I made a skinny sign for me--'bout time I made myself one!
It's about 18 inches tall...7 inches wide.
Perfect for a skinny-right-beside-the-door wall.
same one I used for my dad a year ago.
I used my silhouette to cut contact paper.
You have to be careful and precise with contact paper...and patient...
but I can do patient if it means CHEAP!
I set my blade to 4 or 5, and then the cut depth to 1...
and cut slow at 1-3 speed.
Weed the contact paper (ie, remove the parts you don't want)
I removed the positive space, since I am using the vinyl as a stencil.
Use transfer paper to adhere to the board.
(yes, I am doing another one simultaneously!)
Grab some blue paint--it's a Blue Box right?
3 varying shades...and cosmetic sponges.
Dab on the lightest color first at the top...then the darkest color at the bottom.
fill in middle and blend with the light and dark
I like to remove the contact paper while the paint is slightly wet.
But, gasp...something about this reused wood made it bleed.
So, I just used the x-acto knife and lightly
scraped away the bled out parts.
Used a little paintbrush and white accent around the bigger...
And it looks awesome!
(sci-fi-riffic or other cheesy sci-fi exclamation)
I am over at Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust today!
