Stencil a Shower Curtain with Cutting Edge Stencils! And a Give-away!

I was thrilled when I was offered to review a stencil from
Cutting Edge Stencils!

In the past, I just hand cut my own stencils out of thick plastic,
like here and here and here and here...and here.

So...to have a REAL stencil was amazing!

I picked the Maze Runner Stencil.
Here's their sample pick.  I love it.  I love that Asian Vibe.

Simple right?

Definitely a stencil that I didn't initially think I would pick.
But I sat down with my husband (I want him to like it too right?)
and this one was his favorite...we've always liked Asian Decor.
{We used to own a Martial Arts school.}

Since we are renting, painting the walls is out of the question. 
So, for now, I found a way to spruce up a
 super YELLOW bathroom using this stencil.
This main bathroom in the house is bright yellow.
Originally it was decorated with blue and green.

It was decorated with FROGS too!
  Not adorable little bright green tree frogs...

but old wrinkled fisherman and bike-riding frog figurines...ugh!
(This real guy gave me the SCARE of my life the other day.)

Don't get me wrong.
I love me a frog bathroom...grew up with one all my life.
But I didn't want to be scared every time I went in there.
{no more frogs}

So, I set up my white shower curtain on the work table in the garage.
I had a giant cardboard box under the curtain
to avoid getting paint on the table.

 I sprayed the back of the stencil lightly with spray adhesive.

 Then I set the stencil on my curtain.
I turned it 45* so all the points are going down.
It's a cool twist on the stencil...and gives it a trendy
chevron/arrow feel without being what everyone is doing.

 Cutting Edge Stencils has great "how-to's" for stenciling on their website and blog.
So I wont spend long teaching you how to stencil...that's where they are the pros!
I thought I had plenty of paint.
It's an old sample jar of gray.  It was on the clearance rack for 50 cents last year.
This was the perfect time to use it!
Everyone loves a Yellow and Gray room, right?

 So I began to stencil.
Brushing from the stencil onto the fabric and careful not
 to push paint under the edge of the stencil.

 Once I did the grid of 6...

 I pulled off the stencil to reveal...

 That it was cool!  Maybe not as crisp as it could have been.
But still great!

 Then comes the waiting game.
Stencil a little...then wait for it to dry!  Then repeat...then repeat...etc.
I got done with the top half and some parts jutting down...

 Only to find the paint was gone.
Sometimes I underestimate how much paint I'll actually need for a project.
But I couldn't get more, since this was clearance paint...hmm.

 After a quick poll on facebook I finished it off with TEAL rather than black.
I had another sample jar of Valspar teal from last season.
Great way to finish off paint...which gives me another idea!

 After painting the teal and letting it dry it was ready to hang up!

 And I really like how it turned out!
I don't think I would have done it like this if I planned on
 using both colors from the start, so I'd say it was a happy accident!

 It matches my teal towels and gray rug...
but still needs some wall art...I'll work on that!  :)

And FYI, stencils clean off super easy.
The thick paint just peeled off...and then I scrubbed the stencil out in my tub.

And then cleaned my tub.  Win-win!
