Calligraphy and Watercolor Pillowcase Tutorial!
Beautiful Dreamer!
First, you will be so impressed with the ability to dye fabric using watercolors!
It is a fun and inexpensive way to make custom fabric!

Next, I used markers and a lightbox to write Beautiful Dreamer on my fabric.
It is simple faux Calligraphy, full tutorial here:
Now, turning the fabric into a pillowcase.
First. Lay the fabric out on the table, cut to the size of the desired pillow plus 2 inches on each side.
Standard pillows are 20 inches by 26 inches
Queen pillows are 20 inches x 30 inches
King pillows are 20 inches x 36 inches
~
I cut my fabric 44 inches by 36 inches.
Then I folded it in half so it was 22 inches by 36 inches.
Fold it so the desired VISIBLE part of the fabric is showing.
Pin the edges.
You will leave one end open. I picked the right side.
Stitch a straight stitch right on the edge of the 2 sides that are pinned.
Lay it out on the table and trim the edge so it is 1/4 inch away from the seam you just made.
Cut the tip off the sewn corners.
Careful not to snip the threads!
Now turn it INSIDE OUT.
And sew it again on the 2 sides. This time give it the standard 5/8" border.
This will tuck that first seam inside, making it much sturdier and less likely to fray or pop.
This is called a FRENCH seam.
Fold over the open end twice, about 1 inch worth of fabric and hem the edge.
Turn it right side out and admire!
Fabulous and ready to stuff!
I received the most wonderful pillow ever in exchange for this tutorial!
This is a fantastic pillow.
It has a cooling pad on top to help you stay cool.
And it works so well...I mean, this pillow is cold all night long!
And then 2 pads to stuff in the pillow for your desired firmness.
It is padded, comfortable, soft, cushy and firm.
It is really amazing! I've used a lot of pillows in my life and this one is a winner!
I stuffed this wonderful pillow in my new pillowcase for the bedtime perfection!
This was such a fun project.
I had no idea I could dye fabric with watercolors, write on them and then turn it into something I would love and see each night!
Sweet Dreams!
