Supplies Needed for Cactus Faux Leather Tote:
- Cricut Machines
- Cricut Foil Iron-On
- Cricut EasyPress 2 9x9
- Cricut Iron on Protective sheet or Teflon
- This cactus image on Cricut Design Space
- Faux Leather Tote Bag
- Cricut EasyPress Mat
Step 1: Iron-on
Place the iron on vinyl colored side down on the mat and set it to cut.
Step 2: Cricut Maker
Cut 14 cute little cactus, weed out the excess vinyl. I love these cactus, but any simple silhouette image will work great!
Step 3: Cut and Prep!
I love the shiny foil iron on! Then cut all the cacti apart.
Then place the EasyPress mat inside the faux leather tote.
Step 4: Placement
Line up the cactus so you know the spacing you want for the finished product.
Step 5: EasyPress
Heat up the EasyPress 2. Set the EasyPress 2 to the proper setting for faux leather.
I set it slightly cooler at 295 and pressed for 5 seconds at a time to prevent the tote from melting. Then pressed again for another 5 seconds.
Press firmly with the EasyPress.
Step 6: Cold Peel
Repeat the heat pressing for each cluster of cacti.
Let the vinyl cool down completely, then peel off the carrier plastic sheet. This is what is called a "cold peel".
Foil iron-on needs to be cooled off before peeling off the plastic in order for it to adhere properly.
Easy to peel off once it's cooled down. If it doesn't look like it's adhered, re-press as necessary.
Now the bag is ready to fill with all sorts of goodies and take it out on the town. Makes a great handmade gift too!
That's it!
