Spring Flower Layered Sprinkled Sugar Cookies Recipe

I love adorable sugar cookies, they are the perfect treat!  These ones are layered, frosted with delightful buttercream and decorated with sprinkles and flowers.  Make a tray of cookies for a tea party, birthday party, shower or other fun event. 

These triple layer cookies are so much fun!  I love the bright colors--these are easy to make and don't take a cake decorating degree.

Here's the recipe...and it makes a lot of cookies!

1 cup Butter
2 cups Sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup Sour Cream
6 1/2 cups of Flour
2 teaspoons of Baking Soda
1 teaspoon Salt
2 teaspoons Cream of Tartar

Cream butter and sugar.  Then add the eggs and vanilla.

 Mix in the eggs and vanilla.

Then mix in sour cream.  Finally add the flour, and other dry ingredients.

Split batch into 4 parts and wrap in cling wrap and place in the fridge.  Roll out and cut one section at a time.

Roll out dough on sideboard about 1/4 inch thick.  Cut out individual shapes with cookie cutters.  Place on baking sheet and bake at 425* for 5 minutes--don't over bake!  This makes a bunch of cookies!

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

Mix 1 package of cream cheese
2 lbs of powdered sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla
Mix until smooth...add colors and spoon into piping bags.
You'll need some fun sprinkles too!

Start with a large circle base, a flower center and a small circle center.

The circle base is like a field of grass.

Squeeze out green frosting all over the circles.

Smooth them and sprinkle them with green sprinkles.

Then use white frosting and fill the flower shaped cookies.

Add pink sprinkles and balls to them.

Use a daub of frosting on the green cookie and stick the flowers on the top.

Then use the yellow frosting on the small cookies for the centers.

And stick them on the flower cookies with a bit of frosting.

Stick the flower decorations in the yellow frosting as desired.
