Moon Landing Galaxy Painted Tennis Shoes DIY
Paint some shoes to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the lunar landing on July 20th, 1969! These shoes are out of this world and look amazing. Painting shoes is simple and is a great way of upcycling old shoes with scuffs or stains. Galaxies are full of vivid colors and these shoes showcase a variety of colors so they match with anything you might want to wear.
Take an old pair of tennis shoes and paint them to give them new life. Perfect way to spruce up a back-to-school wardrobe too! Let's get started:
Supplies Needed:
White tennis or canvas shoes
Acrylic Craft Paint (in variety of colors)
Stencil Paintbrush
Palette
Fabric Medium (optional)
Step One:
Begin by removing the shoelaces. Then paint splotchy sections of colors all over the white shoes. If you are using fabric medium, add a little to each color of paint before painting them on the shoes. This will make the paint dry smooth and soft.
I used a paper plate as a palette...great for mixing and blending.
Step Two:
Let the painted shoes dry. Then mix up some black paint with the fabric medium.
Use the stencil brush to add black all over the colorful shoes, leaving some gaps of color showing through.
Step Three:
Place the shoes inside a box and use the stencil brush filled with white paint and scraped with your finger to splatter stars all over the shoes. Let the shoes dry completely.
Finally, add some shoe laces...or elastic, like our trick here! That's it! Wear them out!
