5 Things I Love About My Cricut Explore Air 2
If you are considering getting a Cricut Machine, this is the post that will convince you! A Cricut machine is the answer to all of life's problems. Okay, but really, it is my favorite tool in the craft space (a.k.a. the house). I love my Cricut and use it daily.
About a year later, I upgraded to the Cricut Maker Champagne and I love it too (and passed my Explore Air 2 to my sister-in-law)...but based on the type of projects I do, I've missed my Cricut Explore Air 2 Mint., so I got a new one.
Compatible with old cartridges. Offline mode for working without the internet. It's also available in a plethora of bright or pastel colors--It's kind of an obsession to want to collect them all!
Cricut machines are easy to use and step you through the basics as soon as you plug it in and download the software. Thousands of images are included, so you are ready to create as soon as you set up the machine. It's a big investment, but totally worth it.
Being able to make shirts, cut vinyl, cut out letters for a school project or a work thing, create fabulous home decor, and even run a side hustle. Now, this machine is worth it even if you have no intention of making money with it...but as an option when deciding if it can be justified...here's one of my posts to guide you through it:
5 Ways to Make Money with the Cricut Explore Air 2
I'm happy to have the Cricut Explore Air 2. And here's 5 reasons why I love it--and absolutely recommend it!
Reason #1: Cutting Material Dial.
The Cricut Explore Air 2 has this magic material dial wheel. The Maker does not have this wheel, everything is controlled through the software. But I love this dial. It rotates from the lightest depth to the deepest depth, so it's easy to increase or decrease based on needs. I love this dial.
Reason #2: Open Button
Silly, but the Maker does not have an open button...and I love pressing this little button and having the top and bottom hatch open smoothly and effortlessly.
Reason #3: Storage Space
The Cricut Explore Air 2 has about the same amount of storage as the Cricut Maker, but it is so nice. There's room for tools on the top of the machine as well as the inside storage in the front tray.
I have to remind myself that there is storage because I always forget and search needlessly for my tools.
Reason #4: Blade and Tool Holder
The Cricut Explore Air 2 still has 2 tool holders, like the Maker, so that the pen or stylus and the cutting tool can be used on the same project without changing anything out during the process. I love it!
The blade is easy to change out--and easy to clean out. Simply press the post on the top and pull out the blade carefully. Press the top again to insert a new one.
Reason #5: So Versatile!
The Cricut Explore Air 2 can do all the projects I typically make, I mean, it cuts a hundred different materials. My favorite medium is iron-on vinyl and with the Cricut Explore Air 2, it's a cinch!
I love cutting vinyl...and the new Infusible ink--they are all a breeze with the Explore Air 2. It's got 2X cutting speed--more than previous models and it's worth its weight in gold. I love the Martha Stewart edition machine, it's actually accented in a gold finish and comes with gold tools too!
This vinyl craft took me less than 3 minutes. Set the dial to vinyl+. Then just place the Cricut Premium Vinyl on the green cutting mat and click cut! I used this cute project from Cricut Design Space. (grateful thankful blessed)
Then use the weeding hook tool to remove the excess vinyl. As long as the cut is deep enough for the material, it should be a DREAM to weed. This vinyl peeled off quickly and easily.
Then add some transfer tape to the top of the vinyl. Remove the white backing and place it on the wood surface. Press the vinyl with the scraper tool firmly.
Then peel off the transfer tape by rolling it back over the top of itself. Making sure that the vinyl stays stuck to the board while peeling.
That's it! Seriously, this adorable sign, perfect for Thanksgiving in less than 5 minutes. Thanks to the Cricut Explore Air 2!
