Día de Muertos Day of the Dead Party with Oriental Trading!
Celebrate the Day of the Dead on November 1st with a brightly colored party. Día de Muertos is the Mexican holiday that celebrates ancestors that have passed on.It's a colorful celebration that rejoices in those that have come before. Tables full of the deceased's favorite foods, photographs and candles lit. And quite frankly, another fun day to celebrate after All Hallow's Eve.
Remember this Posable Skeleton from my Halloween decor? He is just the perfect addition to the Day of the Dead party too. I love it when I can use pieces over and over!

You'll also notice some similarities to this Fiesta Party I threw in June! I love using the same decorations for multiple parties, it feels so much more cost effective. Just throw the party supplies in a plastic tote and stow it under the bed or in a closet for the next party. Or pull them out for a regular dinner to make it extra special!
I set out a photograph of my mommy. It's the picture I leave hanging up in my craft room. I always feel the closest to her when I am crafting, since I got that all from her. I thought about my heritage and my ancestry, those that have come before me. This, I believe, is the heart of the Day of the Dead celebration. Tell stories, relive experiences, share family strength with others. I love it.
For the feast, fill the table with a taco or burrito bar, it's the perfect way to satisfy all members at the party. This is the perfect meal to feed a crowd. Just brown a bunch of ground beef and add taco seasoning. Warm up some soft tortillas and place them in the warmer. Then all the fixings, cheese, corn, black or pinto beans, tomatoes, onions, sour cream, green onions, chile verde salsa, hot sauce, peppers, olives...what else goes on a taco bar? All the goods.
Whack a pinata filled with candy as part of the fun. I love this gold donkey pinata!
I love these felt balls from Oriental Trading. They are big in size and easy to string on some twine for the perfect bunting garland. These are great colors, slightly muted, but are still the perfect addition to this party.
This cute pom-pom bunting is perfect decor for a bedroom, party or just part of the everyday decor. It's easy to make with some twine and a big needle...all the details at this post.
Oriental Trading also has everything you could possibly need to pass out on Halloween night! I loaded up on candy and toys! I love having non food items to hand out, because so many people don't want their kids to have candy...and then all the allergies. So Oriental Trading has all the best selection of novelty toys and treats. Here's what is picture:
Hairball Cotton Candy
Airheads
Sloth and Pumpkin Toys
Squishee Monsters
Day of the Dead Suckers
Mermaid Skeleton
Unicorn Pens
Skeleton Unicorn
Plus, I got this amazing storage cart, the A La Cart from We R Memory Keepers. Did you know that Oriental Trading carries high quality art supplies, storage options, wedding everything and education supplies? This cart was easy to set up and makes a great addition to any party or drink bar!
