Fortnite Cosplay The Enforcer Skin Costume DIY!
Do you have any kids that are into Fortnite? Last year it was all my son could talk about...this year not as much. But I'm sharing his Halloween costume from last year, as the Enforcer skin from the video game Fortnite. This was a fun DIY cosplay with most of the items found in our home, made of garbage or pulled out of the closet. Here's the skin that inspired it all. The Enforcer. My son was thrilled when this skin arrived, although he didn't ever actually earn it in the game.
The funnest part about this costume was having my 10 year old work side by side with me as we made it. Cosplay is a fun family project! I sat by him and watched him play Fortnite, I asked him questions about the game and genuinely took interest. I think it's important to be aware, involved and validate our children's interests. This fun cosplay helped us bond!
Supplies Needed:
Dig around the House:
Lots of warm layersBlack Hoodie
Elbow and Knee Pads
Ski Mask
Neck Gator
Motorcycle Gloves
Multiple Belts
DIY elements:
CardboardBlack Paint
Craft Foam (gray and white)
Silver Brads
Black Webbing
Blue Sunglasses
1/4 inch Elastic
DIY tools:
Hot Glue/GunHobby Knife
Ruler
Scissors
Paper
Paintbrush
Begin by making a basic patter with paper. Use a t-shirt for size reference and cut the paper symmetrically.
After finalizing the paper pattern, cut the shape out of the cardboard. Use the webbing to make straps for the back of the armor to fit tight like a backpack. This technique is done similarly to the Rocket Jet Pack I made for him when he was 3.
Attach the shoulder pauldrons with brads. Then try it on to make sure it fits! Trying it on over and over can be exhausting, but it's such an important part of costume building if you are just making it up as you go! Anyway, doesn't he look thrilled?
Enlist the help of the costume wearer to paint the cardboard black. Just regular acrylic craft paint and a paint brush. He sat on the floor, working over more scrap cardboard.
Then cut up the paper pattern into the breastplate pattern. Cut the pieces out of gray craft foam after you are satisfied with the pattern.
Hot glue the foam piece on the cardboard, then secure in a few strategic places with brads.
Now to make the face mask. Bust up the blue tinted sunglasses and cut a mask out of white craft foam.
Hot glue the lenses of the glasses on the backside of the mask. Trace around the eye circles and add a scar with a Sharpie Marker. Add elastic to the mask for the perfect wearing comfort.
Then add the handmade touches to the gathered resources for the perfect costume! Pick up a boogie bomb from the Halloween store and you are set! The perfect Enforcer cosplay.
Okay, even if you aren't cosplaying as the Enforcer these costume making tactics work great for any cosplay you are excited about. Cardboard, craft foam and upcycled items are the perfect makings of any costume!
That's it!
