New Years Eve Party with Downton Abbey DVD!
Have you watched the 6 seasons of Downton Abbey? I confess, I've watched through them all at least a dozen times. I've got every single line memorized...I don't even watch them anymore, I put on my headphones and blog while I listen. I love Anna and Bates, although they never seem to catch a break until the last couple episodes of season 6. I love Mrs. Pattmore, she is my favorite! And I love the character development of Tom Branson...with the tragedy of Sybil Crawley.
Head to your local Walmart and purchase the new release of Downton Abbey DVD today! Pick up a couple of them, they make a great holiday gift!
I've watched the DVD three times and love it! The movie is full of amazing costumes, fantastic scenery and the drama expected by Downton Abbey. I love the early 1900's setting of the show, in fact the movie takes place in 1927. Because of this, the show covers topics that were taboo at the time in a very tasteful way.
It was a girls night and all my cute friends came dressed to the nines.
The weather is too cold for an outdoor event this time of year here, so an indoor party is the perfect solution. Invite over a few friends, bust out the tea set and get some snacks. The movie is 2 hours and 1 minute long...plus there is lots of fun bonus footage and interviews.
Make some popcorn crunch to snack on during the show! Air pop some popcorn and spread on a baking sheet. Add some cereal and mini chocolate chips.
Then drizzle melted chocolate all over the top of the dry ingredients. Let it cool and harden.
Then serve with it other fun treats like cookie dough bites, ganache truffles and candy on a tiered tray, Mrs. Pattmore would be thrilled. Then polish the silver so that Mr. Carson would be proud!
"Have you done something jolly with your hair?" Do you remember when Lady Edith has Anna try something new with her hair to attract the attention of Sir Anthony Strallan? I just love his reaction to seeing her.
Dressing from the 1920's is all part of the fun. Thrift stores offer lots of options, if one looks hard enough. I found this dress at Goodwill for $6. I didn't need to alter a thing. Look for a drop waist and fringe or lace. Pair it with a long beaded necklace and a fun headband.
The ladies in Downton Abbey all have pretty long hair that must be curled and styled in an up-do every day. It's no wonder that in the 1920's women began cutting their hair into short bobs. That's one of the things I noticed in the movie--most of the younger women have cut their hair into a shorter do, rather than continuing the task of pinning their hair up each day. It's pretty jolly.
Decorate a wall with metallic fringe, tassels, lights and even a giant picture frame. Watch the movie, eat treats, then open up some sparkling cider and toast in the new year! I hope 2020 brings with it lots of fringe, drop waist dresses and long beaded necklaces.Ring in the New Year 2020 with Downton Abbey!
