Best Stainless Steel Appliance Cleaner Budget Friendly!
Not sure if stainless steel appliances are still the trend, but I love mine! I have a stainless steel refrigerator, dishwasher and farmhouse style sink. People usually care that they scratch a little, but it doesn't bother me. In fact, the porcelain sink we replaced when we bought our house was terribly scratched...so stainless isn't the only guilty party.
Cleaning stainless steel used to be difficult for me. I asked some friends what they clean theirs with and got lots of harsh chemical answers. I use vinegar for cleaning and disinfecting, but it can leave the surface still a little streaky and sometime spotty. Now I have a new trick.
My mother in law is, dubbed by me, the Queen of Clean! She loves cleaning and learns all the great tricks and tips. The best part is that she'll come to my house and help me clean! I love it. Here's the secret ingredients to the Stainless Steel Cleaner she taught me. It's amazingly budget friendly, and you might already have these ingredients in your home. Do you recognize these?
Begin with an amazingly streaky finish on the stainless steel. Even wiping my appliances down with vinegar leaves some water marks and looks ugh.
Next, in a tiny dish, mix one part of rubbing alcohol with one part baby oil. You won't need a lot. A little goes a long way. Then use a microfiber cloth and dip it in the mixture.
Wipe down all the stainless steel surfaces with the cloth. This is where the miracle takes place. Somehow, all the streaks, finger smudges and water spots disappear, like magic.
It's amazing! The coolest part is the combination of the oil and alcohol keep the surface smudge free for a couple weeks. Yay for a surface protection that will last through a few days of kids opening doors and getting their grimy hands all over the surface.
