Tombow ABT Pro Alcohol Based Markers Coloring Tutorial
Coloring line drawn images has been my favorite things since 2008. When I discovered alcohol ink markers, it was a game changer!
The colors blend together so well, don't shred up the paper and have the most subtle colors for a wide range of finishes.

So in 2011 or so, I splurged big time and bought some alcohol ink markers off ebay for like $400. It was a pretty good size set, maybe 75 colors or so.
It was a steal, they are typically $6-8 each...I was super lucky to get them so inexpensively. I used them for quite a few years, bought refills, etc.
However, I started using them less and then got a little desperate for money and sold them.
It made me sad that I didn't have good markers and I stopped card making for a couple years.
Now that Tombow has released the ABT Pro Alcohol Ink Markers, I'm back at card-making and coloring!
Alcohol ink markers are amazing. They are not great for hand lettering...but they are excellent for blending. They blend flawlessly with no marker streak lines left behind.
They are super pigmented and come in an array of colors. They come in very pale colors too, which is awesome for light skin tones, hair, or just little details.
Let's get started!

Stamped or Printed Image (This one is from The Greeting Farm)
Stamped with Tuxedo Black Momento Ink
Heavy White Cardstock
Cardstock in Light Blue (8.5 X 5.5)
Cardstock in Glitter Blue (5.5 X 3)
Tombow Permanent Adhesive
Tombow Foam Tape
Scissors
Stamping the Image with Momento Black Ink:
Begin by stamping the image on thick paper with the Momento Tuxedo Black ink. The Greeting Farm has the most darling rubber stamps.
I have been using TGF's stamps since 2011 and love them. They are the perfect size for cards or scrapbooking and they release new ones every month!
Coloring the Image with ABT Pro Markers:
Begin by coloring the image with one layer of P910.
Then use color P850 to give cheeks and line around the hair line for a slight shadow.
Next use P723 for a little darker cheeks.
Finally, go back over the cheeks and hairline with P910. The alcohol ink makes the colors blend together and create a stunning effect!
The technique for the hair is very similar. Imagine there is a light source shining on the image. Wherever the light shines would add a highlight to the hair.
Begin by coloring all of the hair in little lined strokes except where the light is shining, leave that blank. I'm using P992.
Next go in with P907 and add hair like lines to the hair, again, leaving the highlights blank.
Finish off the hair by adding a little more of the light color and a little more of the dark color. They blend together wonderfully to create a shiny and stylish hair-do.
The rest of my images I color very simply. Just color the heart shape red, P856.
Then color the dress and bow in P452.
Add some shadow to the blue using P493.
Then blend it in by going over it with the P452 again.
That's it! Coloring is so much fun with these amazing blending markers.
No streaks or fake tans with the range of colors available.
Totally adorable! I love The Greeting Farm stamps and images...I have tons of them.
I stamp 9 images on one piece of cardstock and then color all of them at one sitting.
They are then ready to add to cards when I need one in a hurry. They are the perfect size for cards.
Assemble the Card:
Assembly of the card is so fast! Color a bunch of these cute little images so you can throw cards together at a moments notice.
Cut the light blue paper into 8.5 X 5.5 inches. Then fold it in half for your card base.
Next cut the image out but leave a little white border around the edges.
Next rip the edge of the glitter paper to give it some texture.
Use the Tombow Permanent Adhesive to adhere the glitter card stock to the edge of the folded card.
Finally put a couple strips of Tombow Foam Tape on the backside of the cut and colored image.
Then stick the image to the card!
No other embellishments needed, the coloring is the STAR of the SHOW!
Plus, makes it easy to send through the post!
That's it!
Hope I've given you courage to try Tombow's new ABT Pro Markers!
