Flower Vase with EasyCast Resin Centerpiece DIY
Make a beautiful flower vase to brighten the table during the Winter. I am allergic to flowers, no joke. I got a bouquet a year or so ago and brought it into the house. For the next couple of days I had flu-like symptoms...body aches, head ache, etc. Then it hit me, the flowers! I chucked them out the door and was fine after that.
So, everyone in my family knows not to give me flowers ever. It saves a lot of awkwardness around holidays too. I love real flowers growing outside in my yard, I just cannot keep them for myself.
So making fake flower displays is something I love. They give me the feeling of bright Springtime without the horrible consequences. So make a flower vase centerpiece that looks great year round and doesn't need any maintenance using EasyCast resin.
Great for wedding, event or party centerpieces. Make a bunch and scatter them around every table!
Supplies Needed for this Flower Vase:
Shallow Glass Vase
Fake Flowers
Stirring Sticks, Mixing Cups, Disposable Gloves
Begin by reading the directions for the resin. It is very easy to use, but it is super important to mix the resin as directed. Improper mixing will make it so the resin doesn't set up properly.
Put 1 part resin and 1 part hardener (I used 4 ounces of each) in a mixing cup. Stir constantly for 2 full minutes. Then pour the resin into a second cup and use a second stick to stir the resin for another full minute.
You know when you mix up a cake or pancakes and it doesn't get mixed thoroughly and there's dry powder at the bottom of the bowl? This is why the second cup is so important in this process.
Have you glass vase ready. This cute square dish is from the Dollar Tree and works great for a low profile centerpiece.
Cut the flowers short enough to fit in the vase. Then remove the flower tops off of the stems.
Pour the resin into the vase and let it set for about an hour. Once the resin has gelled enough to hold up the stems, place them in the resin.
Then let the resin cure for 24-48 hours. I didn't try to remove any of the bubbles that formed in the resin because I think it looks like more natural water. I love the fizzy look!
After the resin has cured, place the flower tops back on the stems and enjoy this darling flower centerpiece. It's easy to remove the flowers and dust them regularly, keeping it looking real and cared for on the table, bookshelf or counter.
That's it!
