Feels Like Summer Patio Pillow DIY
Summer is my favorite season for sure. I love the long warm sunny nights! I love the carefree vibe that Summer brings--school is out and responsibilities vanish...kind of. We just refinished our front porch with flagstone rocks and finally we can sit back and enjoy it.
See how easy it is to make a Summer patio pillow, perfect for sitting out on a warm night. This cute pillow is inspired by my favorite song, Feels like Summer by Weezer. Plus, enter the rafflecopter giveaway at the end of this post!
I was invited to be part of Fairfield World's Patio Party event hosted by Laura Kelly Designs and they sent me all these awesome goodies!
The last couple of weeks have been rough for us. I received this big box and then immediately headed out of state for a family reunion. After a long weekend of fun, we decided to head home at night, hoping to catch a glimpse of the Neowise comet. Unfortunately, just 4 minutes into our drive we hit a black cow in the middle of the highway at 60 MPH...totaling our car and killing the cow...but luckily, we were all fine and able to walk away.
So the past week has been a week of recovering (my body is still extremely achy) and getting business in line...instead of crafting an entire patio party with my box of goods.
This little pillow will have to suffice for now!
Supplies Needed:
Cricut Design Space
Begin by designing your image in Cricut Design Space. I used a Cricut Access Sun image. Then placed text over it. I used the slicing tool, since I knew I wanted to use glitter iron on.
Then cut out each layer of iron on vinyl.
Next, weed the vinyl and layer them on the table.
Place the pillowcase on the EasyPress mat and warm it up with the EasyPress. Then place the vinyl on the pillowcase.
Now remove the top layers and just iron-on the first layer according to the recommended settings.
This pillow is big enough that I need to do this pressing in 2 phases.
Then let the iron on cool down completely.
Next, peel off the carrier sheet and place the next layer of iron-on vinyl on the pillow.
Then replace the carrier sheet for the glitter vinyl on top, so the EasyPress doesn't melt the glitter vinyl.
Press for the recommended time and then let the pillowcase cool. Remove the carrier sheets when it's cold.
Finally add the last layer of iron-on vinyl to the pillow. Line up the words with the sliced out parts on the glitter sunshine rays. Again, cover the entire thing with the largest carrier sheet, then press with the EasyPress.
Let the iron-on cool down completely and peel off the carrier sheet.
Now get the Fairfield World pillow form and stuff it inside the pillowcase. I love these pillows and they are made for indoors or outdoors. It's so soft and comfortable too!
Then decorate the porch or patio with this cute Summery pillow for everyone to enjoy!
Last month we had to replace our entire sewer line in the house to the street. It tore up our front yard, but we used it as a reason to improve our porch. We set in flagstone rocks to enjoy the evening shade that our house provides. It's the perfect place to chat in the evenings and greet neighbors. I'm excited to make it a little more cozy, and this pillow is the first step!
That's it!
