DIY Altered Notebooks with The Greeting Farm Stamps!
I love making altered notebooks. They are a fun way to set apart a boring old composition book in the back-to-school section. Make decorative altered notebooks using rubber stamps from The Greeting Farm.
They release a bunch of new ones each month, and I sprung for the Mermaid set and love it. Here's 4 altered notebooks I did a while ago, and the mermaid one is recent.
Supplies Needed for Altered Notebooks:
Rubber Stamps from TGFComposition Notebook
Memento Ink Pad
Clear Block
Tombow Fudenosuke Brush Pen
Cardstock (white and various colors)
Tombow Power Mini Tape
Tombow Foam Tape
Tombow ABT PRO Alcohol Based Markers
Step 1: Stamping
Begin by placing the clear stamp on the clear stamping block. Then press the stamp firmly on the white cardstock, but do not rock it back and forth.
Step 2: Coloring
Next use the Tombow ABT PRO Alcohol Based Markers to color the stamped images.
Use multiple tones to add highlights and shadow tones in the hair. Alcohol Ink markers are the best for this technique because they blend flawlessly.
Tombow makes 108 different shades of ABT PRO Alcohol Based Markers, and I love all 108 of them! Here's the Basic Palette, a great place to start.
Use some small scissors to cut the image out, I like to leave a small border of white around the edges.
Step 3: Adhering to Notebook
Now cut some cardstock the size of the composition notebook. Cut and tear other pieces of paper to decorate the top. I kept this one pretty simple so I could add some hand lettering on it.
Use the Tombow Power Mini to adhere the paper to the base.
Add foam tape on the back of the little TGF Mermaids and stick them to the notebook.
They are the cutest!
Then use the Fudenosuke Brush Pen to add some fun hand lettering to the notebook cover.
Dance with Fairies, Ride a Unicorn, Swim with Mermaids and Chase your Dreams! This notebook will be perfect for filling with to-do lists and goals.
Then use a bunch of the permanent adhesive roller to attach the cover to the notebook.
Press it on the notebook and enjoy! This darling book highlights the darling stamps...but feel free to add ribbon, bows, flowers, embellishments and all kinds of things to alter it to the nines!
Like this BFF Journal, great for passing around a group of friends.
Add a fun element like a zipper and sewing--maybe a net from a bag of fruit! Upcycle things that you have on hand.
This cute altered notebook is a piece of acetate covered in ribbon...mounted with foam and filled with little "I Spy" items to find. This book would be great for kids that need a little stimulation periodically.
Or this darling gratitude journal! Fill it with everything you are grateful for and little tender mercies that you notice during your day. Good Karma, Miracles, Blessings...you name it, they are there if you look!
That's it!
Make darling altered notebooks for the perfect back-to-school accessory!
