Pineapple Painted Canvas with High Gloss Resin!
Turn a painting into a work of art using Envirotex Lite High Gloss Resin. This super thick shiny finish takes a regular canvas and turns it into a professional finish worthy of hanging in an office or house. I love unique and eclectic art, which means I like to paint it myself...or have a family member paint it.
This darling pineapple painted with acrylic craft paints on canvas was done by my daughter a few years ago. It looks great as-is...but like she came home from art class with it. She obviously would get an A, but I wanted to kick it up a little more.
Supplies Needed:
Painted Canvas
Stirring Sticks, Mixing Cups, Plastic Tablecloth, Gloves
Small Paper Cups
Cardboard Box that fits canvas
Step 1: Set up Canvas
Begin by placing the canvas in the cardboard box, raised up on paper cups. Or place the cups and canvas on a disposable work surface. If the canvas is in the box, it can be closed to prevent dust, hair or bugs from landing on it.
Step 2: Mix the Resin
Now mix the resin in the 2 phase process on the directions. It's super important to mix this properly or it can result in resin that does not cure and remains tacky.
Step 3: Pour the Resin
Next, pour the mixed resin on the center of the canvas. Use a clean stirring stick to gently smooth the resin close to all the edges. Some run-off may occur.
The resin has self-leveling features, so it will level out as it sits and cures.
Step 4: Pop Bubbles
Let it sit for 20 minutes and then pop any bubbles that have formed in the resin. Use a heat gun, an embossing heat gun or a mini torch. Then leave it alone for 48 hours to cure.
Once cured, the resin is so many layers of glossy! It looks super sophisticated and professional! Can you see the difference from this:
To where it was before? It intensifies the colors and makes them pop! It's a great way to preserve a canvas too...it's smooth and easy to wipe off dust.
That's it!
Upgrade all your canvas with a little High Gloss Resin!
