National Video Game Day: Crafts Parties and Gift Ideas!
July 8th is National Video Game Day! I'm sharing all my favorite Video Game inspired crafts, DIY's, Parties and Gift ideas, so you can celebrate National Video Game day with more than just video games.
In fact, I'm sharing 40 different video game inspired crafts.
What is your favorite video game?
How will you celebrate National Video Game Day!?
Will you have an epic Smash Brother's tournament or will you start a new character on your favorite RPG?
Are you planning a WoW raid with friends? Maybe you have a cool farm to build in Minecraft!
Did you ever play old school Tetris? My dad was the champ at this game...but guess what?
He holds the controller upside down and sideways. I think he likes to be weird and different, but it worked for him!
What is your favorite video game?
Does someone you love play video games?
What's your preferred video game console?
I love Nintendo. We play most games on PC's now, but still have a broad Nintendo collection and can't wait for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword to come out on Switch this month!
We just got the Valve Index Virtual Reality set up and I love it!
I play BeatSaber for hours every day!
Video Game Nerds Unite!
I am a video game nerd for sure. I don't love every game, and I am careful to read the reviews/ESRB ratings, but I have spent many of my days playing games...so many hours.
I love/hate that games keep track of your actual "in game" playing hours. But this is my entertainment.
We don't go to movies, out to eat rarely and our date nights are playing video games. They are a great way to wind down at the end of a long day.
Who doesn't love all the matching 3 game, looking at you Candy Crush!
Why do people shun video games?
If my siblings wanted to play Monopoly or another board game, everyone is cool with it, even if it ends in a catastrophic fight...but if you play a video game, suddenly that's a bad thing?
No. It's awesome!
I Grew up on Video Games!
We love video games at our house. I was raised on good old school games. I played hours on the Atari at my grandpa's house. I loved Jungle Hunt, Mr. Robot, Dig Dug, and Frogger!
My family got the original Nintendo for Christmas when I was 8, the perfect age for some Mario Brothers and Duck Hunt! I would sit right up next to the tv and shoot those ducks!
I fell in love with The Legend of Zelda and every subsequent game related to Zelda and Link! Plus my kids love them all too! I hardly ever played Legend of Zelda because it was so hard, but I would sit and watch my older brother play.
I still remember where all the secret stashes, prizes and trap doors are. A few years ago I made my oldest son play the game on the Wii and I told him where to go.
I loved playing Contra with my friends, doing the Konami code to get 30 lives instead of just 3!
Remember blowing on the old school Nintendo cartridges? I love that trick.
P.S. That old school Nintendo pictured below still works. Yep!
My youngest son struggled to read. He had no desire to read books...until he was 8 years old and started playing the video game: Oblivion.
Then he wanted to be able to read the NPC conversations.
It took him no time at all to reach adequate reading comprehension level to beat the game, which may be an adult game...don't judge, he's my youngest!
Bonding Through Video Gaming!
When my husband and I got married, 21 years ago, we got Diablo 2 for Christmas from my brothers. It's a phenomenal game that was remastered and re-released this last year. If you haven't played it, it's a good one, arguably the best game ever.
The remastered version was so fun!
In January of 2021, I started playing Fallout 4, which inspired me to throw an epic party for my family when I beat the game. (party link below)
Currently I am playing Fallout 76 with my husband and 2 boys. It's been a fun way to bond and play a game together.
