How to Make Valentine Party Cupcake Toppers
Make a Valentine party extra special with a table filled with cupcakes. These cute cake and cupcake toppers turn a simple cupcake into something much more magical! They are easy to make and fast--totally worth the effort for a little extra.
Last weekend was my birthday and birthday week! I had such a great time hosting a series of 5 giveaways! I loved reading the birthday comments and stories from all of you. I laughed at some of the stories and felt the excitement of birthdays through your experiences too.
Everything from surprise parties that went off without a hitch, to limo rides around town and all the favorite gifts--mostly homemade gifts. I love all the comments, thank you!
I've just tallied up the giveaways and emailed the winners...if I don't hear back from them, I'll draw another name. Hopefully you were one of the winners!
I love parties and we are going to move right into Valentine's day party fun!
Chocolate is my Valentine.
It takes just a couple simple supplies to make these whimsical, quirky cupcake toppers.
Turn a simple homemade cupcake, or a simple store bought cupcake into something much more special for the Valentine holiday with these fun paper straw cake toppers.
I love crafts, but super simple and totally budget friendly too. These cupcake toppers can be made by the party guests, which would be a super fun school Valentine day party craft...or even adapted for a birthday party.
Alright, let's get started on this Valentine day party!
Supplies Needed for Valentine Party Cupcake Toppers:
Paper Straws
Bakers Twine
Heart Paper Punches (or a Cricut, or scissors)
Hot Glue/Gun
Iridescent, Gold or Metallic Paper
Step 1 for Cupcake Toppers:
Begin by tying twine on 2 straws with about 4 inches between the 2 straws.
Step 2 for Cupcake Toppers:
Then hot glue a heart cut out on the twine...and hot glue another heart cut out on the backside of the heart as well.
Step 3: Get Creative with Cupcake Toppers
Now make a bunch of cupcake toppers with all the creativity you've got! Make some with just a single straw...make them with different thicknesses of twine...or make longer ones for a full cake.
This triple heart cake topper is for the large bundt cake. I love the iridescent paper that shines in the light!
I made a dozen cupcake toppers in just a few minutes. These are simple to make and make such a big impact for a party!
Step 4: Place Cupcake Toppers in Cake
Stick the paper straws into the cupcakes at a slight angle so the hearts dangle over the top of the frosting just perfectly.
Then repeat decorating the cupcakes with paper straw cupcake toppers.
This simple trick takes a super mediocre dessert like these homemade cupcakes and amps them up for the perfect Valentine day party!
Which one of these cupcakes would you pick if you were at my Valentine party?
Chocolate is totally my Valentine...or maybe pizza.
How about you? What food group is your Valentine???
Bonus Embellishments!
Add some sparkly jewels, stickers or other fun embellishments to the cake toppers for a little extra sparkle.
I love hosting simple parties with just enough decorations for everyone to feel excited but not to break the bank! Just add balloons, a letterboard and darling cupcakes!
