Ice cream bombs are a surprise treat!
Stacked on a warm brownie from the oven then hot fudge topping drizzled over the top...to reveal a scoop of smooth ice cream!
It's the perfect dessert--and sure to please the crowds!
Supplies Needed for Ice Cream Bombs:
- Silicone Mold
- Silicone Pastry Brush
- Chocolate Melts
- Sea Salt Caramel Truffle Ice Cream (or ice cream of choice)
- Electric Skillet
- Ice Cream scoop
- Hot Fudge Topping
- Warm Brownies
- Cupcake Tray
- Freezer
Step 1: Chocolate Mold
Begin by melting the chocolate melts and stirring them smooth with spoon. Do not overheat melts.
Then use the pastry brush to paint a layer of chocolate inside each of the silicone mold domes.
Freeze them for 5 minutes and then repeat by painting a second layer of chocolate on each dome. Freeze again.
12 domes will make 6 ice cream bombs.
Step 2: Smooth Edges
Remove the chocolate domes and place them briefly on a barely warm skillet to smooth the edges.
Place half of them open side up in the cupcake tray. Place the other half in the freezer for now.
Step 3: Ice Cream!
Now take your ice cream of choice, my favorite ice cream of all time is Private Selection brand: Sea Salt Caramel Truffle.
It's super smooth, has rich layers and little truffles! So good.
Any ice cream will make these the bomb!
Simply scoop one scoop into each chocolate dome.
I'm using a large cookie scoop, holding about 1/4 cup of ice cream.
Work quickly so the ice cream and the chocolate domes stay nice and cold.
Fill each chocolate dome in the tray and then stick them back into the freezer for a few minutes.
Step 4: Sphere Time!
Now take the other half of the domes from the freezer. Place the edge on the skillet for just a second to melt the edge slightly.
Then quickly place the melted chocolate edge on/over the ice cream bomb, sealing the chocolate domes into one beautiful sphere.
Return them to the freezer again.
Add some chocolate drizzles on them if desired.
You could also add sprinkles or other fun toppings!
Then freeze until ready for use.
These make a great dessert! Bake a batch of brownies prior to serving.
Step 5: Serving Ice Cream Bombs!
To serve Ice Cream Bombs for dessert, place a bomb on top of a piece of warm brownie.
This will get the base of the bomb starting to melt.
Then pour a spoonful or two of hot fudge topping (warmed up) so that it melts the outer chocolate shell and spills into the creamy ice cream.
This spectacular dessert is super rich and delicious!
It is a showstopper and will leave your family, yourself or your guests talking about it for years to come.
That's it!
It's the perfect dessert solution for anyone that likes chocolate!
Get creative and make a variety of flavors, toppings, fillings and sauces!
