They are super cute gifts--but sometimes are a burden for the recipient.

Supplies Needed for Glitter Resin Tumblers:

4 Stainless Steel Tumblers (mine were Rose Gold but same brand)
Mod Podge
Fine Glitter
Holographic Fine Glitter
Chunky Glitter
High Gloss Resin
4 Tumbler/Cup Spinner
Disposable Gloves
Cardboard Worksurface
Mixing Cups and Stirring Sticks for Resin

Step 1: Prep

Begin by prepping the work space.

Place cardboard on the table where you will be working.

Make sure your cup spinner can plug in easily and stay plugged in overnight.

My pictures are scattered and dingy, but I set this up in my craft room.

Begin by setting the cup spinner on a piece of cardboard.

Then set up the tumblers on the cup spinner.

Step 2: Mod Podge

Mod Podge is an optional step to this process, but it does help conserve glitter waste.

Begin by painting mod podge on the outside of the tumbler.

While the mod podge is still tacky, pour glitter onto the tumbler.

Place a piece of sturdy paper under the tumbler to catch the excess glitter, that can then be reused.

Fill the mod podge with one layer of glitter and then let it dry completely.

Step 3: Resin

Mix up the high gloss resin according to the package directions.

If resin is not mixed up properly, it won't harden right.

When it is mixed properly it's awesome--and many of the epoxy resins are food safe--so use one that is for this project.

Then start up the cup spinners and get the tumblers moving slowly.

I apologize for lack of pictures here...but just try it and you'll see how easy it is.

Use your gloved hand to gently smooth the resin over the tumbler.

After a thin layer of resin is applied to the tumbler, sprinkle on some more glitter.

If the glitter falls off now, it will most likely have resin or become mixed with other glitters, so this part was a little more wasteful.

You can put a silicone mat under your cup turner and use the excess glitter and resin in other resin projects too!

Be sure to add thick, chunky glitter to sections of the tumbler, as well as fine glitter.

The glitter and resin will smooth out as the spinner works.

Keep them spinning on the cup turner for at least 24 hours.

I didn't have any issues with bubbles forming in the resin, so no need to use heat to pop them.

The glitter effect would mask any bubbles anyway, but you want the finished piece to be smooth, so keep an eye on bubbles after 20 minutes of turning.

If bubbles appear, then use a heat gun to gently pop the bubbles as the spinner turns the tumblers.

After 24 hours, touch the bottom edge and see if the resin is hard. (if not, spin for another 12 hours and check again--if still not hardened...it may have been mixed wrong)

If the resin is hardened, remove the tumblers from the cup turner and they are ready to clean off and put the lids on.

I just rinse off with water and check of any drops of resin that ended up on the bottom or lip edge.
