Doodlecraft Watercolor Patterned Vinyl and Iron on! I'm super excited about today! It's release day for my Patterned Vinyl Collaboration with Expressions Vinyl. Clear back in March I signed up to collaborate with Expressions Vinyl on 10 designs to be turned into vinyl and iron on vinyl. I picked vivid watercolors as my medium and I love how all 10 patterns work together. It's like my runway collection.

Supplies Needed for Upcycled Rainbow Decor:


Supplies Needed for Upcycled Rainbow Decor: Wooden Stacking Rainbow Spray Paint or Acrylic Craft Paint Doodlecraft Patterned Vinyl

Step 1: Paint the Rainbow


I got this rainbow in a junk bin at a store that sells things for super cheap. It was $1 for the 3 pieces of the rainbow.


The edges were dinged up and scuffed, so I decided to paint them.


Lay the pieces out on a piece of cardboard.


Then lightly spray paint on the pieces. 


Do several coats of paint, letting them dry about 10 minutes between light layers.

After the rainbow pieces have dried completely, pick the pattern adhesive vinyl that matches your design theme the best.


I'm using mini flowers, rainbow wash and stripes.

Turn the adhesive vinyl over and place the rainbow piece on top of the vinyl.

Trace the rainbow outline.


Then cut the rainbow out about 1/8 inch inside the line to give the rainbow a little colored border.

Step 3: Adhere Vinyl


Peel off the edge of the adhesive vinyl backing on the base of the rainbow piece.


Then place the vinyl on the rainbow and remove more backing while smoothing the vinyl on the rainbow wood piece.

Step 4: Repeat!


Now repeat the same tracing, cutting and applying process for each of the rainbow pieces.

The adhesive vinyl is perfect for applying, because the vinyl has some flexibility. 


It's easy to place down exactly where it needs to be.

Okay, of all the watercolor patterns I created, I love this mini floral print the most!
