This is a great way to upcycle old glass jars instead of tossing them.

Step 1: Print and Distress


Pick the file to download from the Mod Podge Printable Library, there are a series of Halloween labels, perfect for the apothecary bottles.


Print them off.


I had to change the size a bit (using photoshop) so they would fit on these little tiny bottles.


Then use the stamp pad and a sponge to distress and "age" the labels with some brown ink.

Then cut the little labels out using some fine scissors.


I love making little miniature things, these are not too small, but give the mini vibe.

Step 3: Mod Podge


Now turn the little labels over and paint some Mod Podge on the backside of the paper.


Then press it onto the little bottles...there is something so fun about little jars with corks, right!?

These bottles are small enough that not a lot of Mod Podge is needed to hold the labels in place.


If you are using bigger bottles and labels, it may need more adhesive to get it to hold completely.


Then let the Mod Podge dry completely.

Step 4: Fill the Bottles


Now for the colorful filling in the apothecary bottles!


Squeeze a small amount of acrylic craft paint into the bottles.

Then squeeze the same amount of Mod Podge into the bottle as the paint.


Cover the top of the bottle with your finger, creating a tight seal, and shake up the bottle, mixing the paint and the Mod Podge until smooth.


Then let the bottles sit overnight with the cork off.

Then turn the bottles over and let any excess Mod Podge drain out and then dry out completely.


Then stick the cork in the top of the bottles and they are ready to decorate the mantle, the entry way, a shelf, or as a little centerpiece on the table.
