How to Make a Reflective High-Vis Running Shirt!
Make the perfect high visibility shirt for outdoor activities in the dark.
Customize it with your favorite silhouette design.
I'm featuring the Fallout Vault-Tec logo on the front and the Vault 76 logo on the back...would you say that it looks radioactive? 😆😆😆
I do most of my exercise in the dark and high visibility is super important.
Some of the streets in the neighborhood have sidewalks, and some don't...so there's a fair amount of walking, jogging, running, biking, etc in the street.
I ran 5 miles a day for a little more than a year, then my knees started acting up and I had to stop.
It's such a bummer.
I was a slow runner, like an 11 minute mile, but I really loved it.
I ran intervals, so I had running time and walking time.
It was so good for me and I felt so happy and healthy doing it.
I needed a lot of high vis running shirts, especially during the Summer so I could change them up daily.
Now I do a lot of walking in the dark and cold hours of the morning...I'm stuck wearing a coat and my reflective running suspenders, but look forward to warm weather and wearing my reflective running shirts again.
This reflective vinyl is matte finish and has a super reflective surface when lights shine near it.
I love making my own high vis running shirts, because they fit comfortably, have a design I love and are easy to wash.
Plus, I don't have to wear my reflect suspenders like a nerd.
I'm a Fallout nerd instead. lol.
It's important though...see this list of monsters I might have to outrun at any moment!
Fallout 76 Monsters Enemies and Baddies:
Fallout 76 features a diverse array of enemies, each presenting unique challenges for players. Here's a list of some notable enemies along with brief descriptions:
Scorched: Former humans transformed by the Scorched Plague, retaining basic intelligence but hostile towards survivors.
Super Mutants: Mutated humans with increased strength and aggression, a recurring enemy type in the Fallout series.
Super Mutant Behemoth: Towering over regular Super Mutants, the Behemoth is a colossal and heavily mutated creature.
Ghouls: Humans exposed to high levels of radiation, resulting in a feral or non-feral state. They are often encountered in abandoned areas.
Mole Miners: Miners heavily mutated by radiation, wearing power armor and wielding heavy weapons.
I love the Mole Miner Treasure Hunter events!
Ultracite Titan: New Monster triggered with a Nuke explosion at Abandoned Mine Shaft 2. Spawns in Nuka World on Tour.
Robots: Various robotic enemies, including Protectrons, Assaultrons, and Sentry Bots, each with distinct abilities and combat styles. Major Gutsy is my favorite!
Wendigo: A horrifying, mutated creature with a lanky appearance and a penchant for stalking and attacking unsuspecting victims.
Deathclaw: Iconic to the Fallout series, Deathclaws are highly aggressive, powerful, and heavily mutated reptilian creatures.
It's fun to see the variety of enemies.
I found this beautiful Albino Deathclaw near Sunday Cabin and another one somewhere else.
I love the lighting in the game, so I get these cool rays of sunshine peeking through the trees!
Radscorpions: Enormous mutated scorpions with a powerful sting, capable of burrowing and ambushing players.
Mirelurks: Crustacean-like creatures with varying types, including soft-shell, razorclaw, and king. They are often found in watery areas.
Sheepsquatch: A mythical creature resembling a mutated sheep with immense size and formidable combat abilities.
I love posing next to my kills like a mighty hunter.
Lol.
Yao Guai: Mutated bears with heightened aggression and strength, making them formidable adversaries.
Snallygaster: A fearsome cryptid with multiple eyes, a long tongue, and a variety of ranged and melee attacks.
Scorchbeast: A formidable and terrifying creature, the Scorchbeast is a massive, bat-like monstrosity that emerged following the nuclear apocalypse.
Scorchbeast. I remember my first scorchbeast.
I was such a low level and it was such a giant waste of bullets. Luckily I was playing with my husband and 2 sons, so I had lots of help.
Flatwoods Monster: An enigmatic alien creature with a distinctive appearance, known for teleporting and disorienting attacks.
Honey Beast: A mutated creature resembling a giant honey bee, often found near honey nodes.
Feral Wolves: Packs of mutated wolves that roam the wasteland, attacking players and other creatures.
Blue Devil: New Cryptid found a few places in Appalachia!
Grafton Monster: A massive, mutated creature resembling a hairless gorilla with exposed muscles and a hunched posture.
Mothman: The Mothman is a cryptid and mysterious entity in Fallout 76. Inspired by West Virginian folklore, it's known for its distinctive, glowing red eyes and large wings.
Encountering and overcoming these varied enemies adds depth and challenge to the Fallout 76 experience, with each foe requiring different tactics and strategies for successful combat.
So clearly a reflective running shirt is in order!
Supplies Needed for a Reflective Running Shirt!
- Athletic Shirt
- Reflective Iron-On Vinyl
- Cricut Maker 3
- Cricut EasyPress 2 12x10 or
- Cricut EasyPress 2 9x9 Raspberry
- Cricut EasyPress Mat
- Cricut Design Space
- Design PNG's (mine are below)
I used the Vault-Tec logo on the front of my shirt and the Vault 76 logo on the back of my shirt.
You can use any silhouette type image or even text on your shirt.
Step 1: Cricut Design Space
Begin by designing the shirt in Cricut Design Space.
Upload the logo's and scale them to the desired size.
I typically do 7 inch wide for the front of a shirt and 9 inches for the back of a shirt.
Then mirror the images and send to the cutting machine.
Place the reflective iron-on vinyl on the Cricut mat with the shiny side down.
Step 2: Cut Reflective Iron-on Vinyl
Cut the iron-on at the "more" setting for every day iron-on.
Check the cut went through the vinyl before removing the mat from the machine.
If it needs to cut again, just click the go button.
If it is cut, go ahead and release the mat.
Then remove the reflective iron on from the mat and bask in its greatness.
Step 3: Weed
Next, remove the excess vinyl from the cut out logo design.
I love peeling iron-on vinyl.
It's so smooth and satisfying.
It can tear, so take your time and make sure it pulls from the cut lines carefully.
Step 4: Iron-On
Cut the logos apart and place the athletic shirt on the Cricut EasyPress Mat.
Heat up the shirt with the Cricut EasyPress for about 10 seconds.
Then place the front logo on the front of the shirt.
I center my logo 2 inches down from the neck hem.
Then cover with parchment or teflon and press the reflective iron-on vinyl.
Instructions say 300* F for 15 seconds.
Pre-press 4 seconds, peel liner warm, press again for 10-15 seconds.
Repeat the process for the back of the shirt...the back of this shirt's design dictated where I needed to put the design, so it worked out perfectly.
Normally I would go down 4 inches from the neckline hem.
See how it lights up in the dark with a flash!?
I love it!
Now you have a high vis shirt that is perfect for working, running or playing in the dark.
Remember, no one out ranks safety.
Have fun on a run and look cool doing it.
That's it!
Make sure you are seen and look cool as you workout in the dark hours of the day with this reflective running shirt.
Make a Fallout themed or your favorite thing shirt!
