Fallout 76 Recipe: Delbert's Bunless Cramburgers

Nothing quite says "Welcome to the Wasteland" like Cram.

Cram is the Fallout version of SPAM or pressed luncheon loaf.

Cram is iconic in the Fallout games and nothing is quite as fun to find while scavenging!

Delbert has a bunch of recipes strewn around the game and bunless cramburgers is one of them.

Let's give them a try!

Nothing quite says "Welcome to the Wasteland" like Cram.

According to Fallout Wiki's, Delberts Bunless Cramburger recipe is only available through transcript coding and not visible in the game, it reads:

Delberts Bunless Cramburger

  • Scoop some cram into a bowl
  • Mix it up with an egg and water
  • Dab of ketchup or something

So I followed his directions despite not really enjoying the process and how it turned out.

I'll mention more about this at the end.

What is CRAM?

In the Fallout series, "cram" is a pre-war food item commonly found throughout the post-apocalyptic wasteland.

It is a preserved meat product similar to spam, often packaged in cans adorned with retro-style branding.

Cram serves as a convenient and shelf-stable source of sustenance for wasteland survivors, offering a quick and easy meal option in a world where fresh food is scarce.

While not the most nutritious or appetizing option, cram provides valuable calories and sustenance to help players survive their journey through the harsh and unforgiving landscape of the Fallout universe.

Who is Delbert Winters?

Delbert Winters, a native of Flatwoods, underwent profound transformations in his life.

From enlisting in the army, exposing himself to diverse environments, to eventually assuming leadership of the Flatwoods Church, he amassed a wealth of experiences.

Witnessing the devastation wrought by the bombs, he grappled with a crisis of faith, pondering his past deeds from wartime to charitable endeavors.

Observing survivors falling ill from consuming raw meat, Delbert interpreted it as a divine call to action.

He dedicated himself to ensuring the welfare of post-war survivors, striving to provide sustenance and health in a world marred by devastation.

Delbert created 13 recipes you can collect around the Wasteland--and this one is a favorite!

I followed Delbert's recipe and this is what I came up with.

I'll give you my honest thoughts after showing you how to make this.

Step 1: CRAM

Begin by opening up your cram...these cans are always so much fun to open!

(this is store brand SPAM with a printed off label)

Delbert's recipe instructs us to "scoop" out the CRAM.

So instead of just squeezing it out in one be container shaped lump, I used a spoon to scoop out the CRAM.

Step 2: Egg

Next add an egg to the mix. (I'm guessing Delbert would have access to Mirelurk eggs...I think a Deathclaw egg would be too big for one can of CRAM...but he could also possibly use a Radtoad or Radscorpian egg)

Delbert also says to add some water, but I didn't do this part because the egg seems wet enough.

I added pepper and then mixed it all up together to make a paste.

This single can of cram made 3 decent sized Cramburgers.

Step 3: Cook

Then pat out a patty and cook it on the skillet.

This was crumbly and difficult to get it to stay in one firm patty...not like working with ground beef.

SPAM is already pressed in a loaf, so mixing it with an egg seemed like an unnecessary step.

Turn it over and cook the other side until golden brown.

Then serve with a bit of ketchup...or whatever you can find.

I added some cheese, onions, pickles, tomatoes and fresh veggies.

Goes great with a Nuka Cola too!

But--how is it?

Honestly, it's way too much work to take something that is already pressed together and mix it up with an egg and then try to press it together again.

It's better to just slice up the CRAM and fry it on the skillet...like it is intended.

Taste was the same...but the cram burger was crumbly and fell apart easily...hence the cheese on top!

So, not a favorite game recipe to recreate in real life, but fun to try once.
