History of the Pepperoni Roll:

True to the Fallout 76 game, the pepperoni roll has its roots in West Virginia.

Originating in the early 20th century, Italian immigrants working in coal mines sought a convenient and hearty lunch option.

Around 1927, Giuseppe "Joseph" Argiro, a Fairmont baker, is credited with creating the pepperoni roll.

This on-the-go snack features a soft roll stuffed with pepperoni, providing a flavorful and energy-boosting meal for miners.

Over the years, the pepperoni roll gained popularity beyond the mining communities and became a cherished West Virginian culinary icon, celebrated annually with events like the Pepperoni Roll Festival in Fairmont.

If you complete the event "Riding Shotgun" at Big Bend Tunnel East in the south-east region of the map, you'll get a Pepperoni Roll as a reward!

The pepperoni roll gives you a carry-weight boost of 30 pounds and an additional 20 hit points.
These are my favorite food item in the game!

If you don't have the plan to create your own Pepperoni Rolls, Molly at Crater has them for sale.

(Fun Fact: I buy extra pepperoni roll plans from her and sell them for 999 caps at my shop because so many people don't know where to find the plan...I'm a bit of an opportunist.)

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

If you're feeling ambitious, you can make your own roll dough, but for a quick and convenient option, store-bought dough works perfectly.

(This roll recipe takes 30 minutes and is awesome)

Set the frozen roll dough on a baking sheet and allow them to come to room temperature, about 4 hours.

Step 2: Beat the Egg

Beat the egg so it is ready to wash on the pepperoni roll once it's stuffed.

Step 3: Roll Out the Dough

Flour your surface and rolling pin or work on some wax paper to prevent sticking.

Roll out the roll dough into a thin, rectangular shape.

Step 4: Layer on the Pepperoni

Place a layer of pepperoni slices evenly across the rolled-out dough.

Be generous, as the pepperoni is a star player in these rolls.

The salty, savory flavor will infuse the entire roll with a delicious kick.

Step 5: Add Mozzarella Cheese

Add a couple thick slices of mozzarella cheese over the layer of pepperoni.

The melted cheese will bind everything together and create a gooey, flavorful center.

Step 6: Fold and Seal

Fold the top and bottom edges of the roll dough over the cheese and pepperoni.

Place the rolled dough on a parchment or foil lined baking sheet.

Lightly brush the surface with the beaten egg wash, giving the rolls a golden brown finish during baking.

Step 8: Sesame Seeds

Finish off the pepperoni roll with some sesame seeds.

They will stick beautifully to the egg wash.

Step 9: Bake to Perfection

Preheat your oven to the recommended temperature for the roll dough, I set mine at 350*F.

Bake the pepperoni rolls until they turn golden brown and achieve a deliciously crispy exterior. (about 12-15 minutes)

Let them cool down a bit and then plate them up!

They are the perfect little handmade pizza pockets but they taste a million times better!

They aren't all full of sauce, so they are relatively clean--especially when cool.

Goes great with a Dusty Mole Miner Pail too!

I got this mole miner pail from a neighbor that was dejunking his grandpa's garage.

I knew I needed to add this to my Fallout decor collection!

If the post-apocalyptic world has pepperoni rolls, count me in.

I make these classic miner snacks all the time.

I hoard all the pepper I can find, I go to Gulper Lagoon to get some gulper meat, I milk a few cows and I head to Billings Homestead for razorgrain.

Then I make as many pepperoni rolls as I have ingredients for.

I've been saving them in my cryo-freezer for later too--they are my favorite wasteland delight!

If the post-apocalyptic world has pepperoni rolls, count me in.

So, in real life--they lived up to the hype!

I served these up to my family of 5 (counting me)...and they got 5 stars from all 5 of us.

They are really so good.

Think pizza, but less gooey.

They are warm, salty, and cheesy.

They are highly recommended and we will definitely make them again.
