Fallout 76 Recipe: Squirrel on a Stick
Squirrel on a Stick is one of the most iconic of the Fallout foods.
Let's make the perfect version of Squirrel on the Stick for any Vault-Dwelling, Wastelanding, Wandering enthusiast.
This fun recipe is perfect for a Fallout theme party, event or just a normal Tuesday night!
These squirrel on sticks were so yummy!
They are a little time consuming but so delicious.
I've thought through better ways to make it so the bacon doesn't burn, but it's such a wonderful combination that the little toasted edges of bacon still were delightful.
Fallout 76 Game Recipe:
- 2 Boiled water
- 2 Corn
- 2 Squirrel bits
- 2 Sugar

I mean, even the in-game picture is appealing!
Why are foods on sticks so much funner than regular food?

- Fried Radroach on a Stick
- Fried Scorpian on a Stick
- Radscorpian Kebab
- and of course the infamous Iguana on a Stick--which turns out is actually corpse meat--because there is no iguana in all of Fallout!
Supplies Needed for Fallout 76 Recipe: Squirrel on a Stick:
- Baking Sheet
- Wire rack inside baking sheet
- Aluminum foil
- Wooden Skewers
- Sharp Knife
- Cutting Board
Ingredients for Squirrel on a Stick:
- 2 lbs Chicken breast cut into 1-2 inch chunks
- 1 package Bacon
- Red Onion cut into large pieces
- Wooden Barbecue Skewers
Pineapple Teriyaki Glaze:
- 1 Cup Pineapple Juice
- 1/3 Cup Brown Sugar
- 2 Tablespoons Soy Sauce
- 1 Tablespoon Cornstarch
- Dash of Salt
Step 1: Thread the Skewers:
Begin by piercing the end of a slice of bacon, then skewer a piece of chicken, wrap the bacon around one side of the chicken and poke the bacon on the skewer again.
Then add a piece of red onion, weave the bacon over it as before.
Repeat the process until the skewer is sufficiently filled.
Step 2: Teriyaki Glaze:
To make the pineapple teriyaki glaze, combine all ingredients into a medium saucepan and stir until the cornstarch is dissolved.
Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce heat to medium ad simmer for 2 minutes.
Brush the squirrel on a stick with the glaze before broiling and every time they are turned.
Step 3: Grill or Broil
Lay the kebabs on a baking sheet with a wire rack or take them outside to grill.
The grill will need to be watched closely so the bacon doesn't burn the most.
I used the broiler setting on my oven and turned the skewers every 3-5 minutes or so.
I used a meat thermometer to make absolutely sure that the chicken was cooked all the way through.
Nothing ruins a meal more than a raw chicken bite. Ugh.
**PRO TIP: The next time I make these, I am going to pre-cook the chicken.
This way I just need to cook up the bacon to perfection and not worry about getting the inside of the chicken cooked thoroughly.
The real star of the show is the teriyaki glaze.
It's sweet and tropical...and salty and delicious!
It's the kind of thing that Grahm would really like at his Meat Cook.
It adds the best flavor with the saltiness of the bacon and the savory chicken.
Can also add red or green peppers to the stick if you want it to be more variety and less like "Squirrel on a stick".
Squirrel on a Stick is a common consumable food item in the Fallout universe, created by skewering a squirrel onto a stick and roasting it over an open flame.
Widely available throughout the post-apocalyptic wasteland, it serves as a practical and portable source of sustenance for survivors, offering modest boosts to health and hunger meters when consumed.
Squirrel on a Stick makes so much sense for the Wasteland, because you just find an animal, take care of it--skewer it and roast it over a fire.
It's just a natural cuisine for the Vault Dweller turned Wanderer.
Absolutely 5 stars!
Everyone in my family totally loved these.
They are the perfect combination of wonderful flavors.
We each got 3 sticks and wished we could eat more, but it was totally satisfying and more than enough meat for one sitting...but they are that good.
Pair it with a Nuka Cola Quantum, Nuka Cola, Nuka Cherry or your drink of choice!
