Fallout 76 Recipe: Yao Guai Pastry
Nuka World On Tour is my favorite update to the Fallout 76 World!
I just love the fair/carnival vibe...it's absolutely my thing.
I love the food--and the Yao Guai Pastries won my heart as soon as I saw them.
I knew I had to make them in real life.
Yao guai pastries look like the classic bear claw...but they actually have big claws!
One night as I was falling asleep, I was inspired on the perfect way to make these delightful pastries and knew I just had to try it.
They were delicious and everyone loved them!
These yummy treats aren't made from scratch--but if you are feeling domestic, whip up your own fritters and enjoy the deliciousness!
Yao Guai are mutated bears in the Fallout series, resulting from radiation exposure post-apocalypse.
Their aggressive behavior and formidable strength make them dangerous adversaries, commonly found in wooded areas and mountainous regions. Encounters with Yao Guai present challenging combat scenarios, offering valuable resources when defeated.
Symbolizing the dangers of mutation in the wasteland, they add depth and challenge to the immersive experience of exploring Fallout's post-apocalyptic landscape.
Tasty and sweet, these are sure to please everyone!
Most of the Fallout recipes are pretty accurate...like you can see how they came up with the recipe with respect to real life cooking.
However,
Yao Guai pastry's in Fallout are not true to the recipe to make them IRL.
They contain Yao Guai meat...so not really the kind of pastry you'd pick up at a fair.
Yao Guai Pastry Recipe:
Look at those fun big claws!
They are the iconic part of this treat and I'm going to show you how to easily do this at home!
Ingredients and Supplies Needed for Yao Guai Pastry:
- Apple or Raspberry Fritters
- Apple
- Lemon Juice
- Powdered Sugar
- Water
- Toothpicks
- Wax Paper
Step 1: Apple Claws
Begin by peeling an apple and slicing it into pieces.
Then carve a big claw out of the pieces.
Step 2: Toothpick
Pierce a toothpick half way into the apple claw.
Then stick the apple claw into the apple fritter, so it sticks out like a large claw.
Repeat the apple claw process until the fritter has 4 big claws sticking out of it like a hand.
The fritter is already a deep fried, coated in sugar treat...but we are going for authentic gameplay appearance, so they are going to need a little more sugar.
Step 3: Sugar Glaze
Mix about 1/4 cup of powdered sugar with a teaspoon of water and stir until it's a smooth pouring consistency.
Add more water if needed, but remember a little goes a long way.
Then use a small spoon to drip lines of white, sugary icing over the top of the yao guai pastry!
Adorable, delicious and exactly what you'd want to pick up at Nuka World on Tour after a fun round of Most Wanted and a little visit to the Nuka Cade.
Side note:
Let's chat about this two tiered serving tray.
I didn't have anything close to this, but it's exactly what I wanted since Betty Hill has Yao Guai pastries for sale on a 2 tiered rack in her trailer store front over by Tunnel of Love.
I went to my local Savers.
I said a quick prayer that I could find what I needed.
I was with my daughter and I told her what I was looking for.
We had only walked down ONE aisle and then right down the second aisle, there this was!
I gasped!
It was exactly what I wanted and was only 5 bucks!
Totally worth it for these Yao Guai Pastries...plus you'll see these little rack in other posts too!
These cute Yao Guai patries are a great treat for a party or event, just make sure your guests are aware of the toothpicks holding those little claws in place.
Some times the daily challenges on Fallout 76 are to kill a Yao Guai.
Luckily there is a little cave in the Whitespring Golf Course green, down by where I placed my CAMP years ago.
I just swing down by the cave and without fail, there's a yao guai sleeping in there for me to ambush.
It's a great way to get some yao guai meat so I can make a yummy yao guai pastry at my cooking station.
There's not much else to say about these, but I have a few more pictures to enjoy!
When I was little, we hardly ever got doughnuts, and if we did they were cut into pieces.
It was so fun to just get a whole donut all to myself.
Now, it's not really my treat of choice...but I did eat one of these and it was fun.
Definitely transported me to carnival atmosphere!
If you are hosting a Fallout party, these are a great decoration and treat!
I think Betty Hill and I would be pretty good friends in the Wasteland.
She's stylish, has a shop full of fun thrifted items and foods...and she's fun to chat with.
Do you think she's the one that makes the yao guai pastries?
That's it!
Make Fallout 76 Nuka World on Tour themed Yao Guai Pastry treats for all the Vault Dwellers in the Wasteland.
These are a delightful treat and are easy to make!

My fellow Vault Dwellers, the Fallout Universe is full of unique and questionable foods!
Recreating fictional food from Fallout in a real-life cooking experience is a flavorful fusion of gaming geekery and gastronomy.
In the immersive world of Fallout, iconic dishes like squirrel on a stick and West Virginia pepperoni rolls satisfy the taste buds and hunger meter, becoming virtual symbols of post-apocalyptic sustenance.
