The color of this Italian crepe paper is just perfect!
These flowers can be used to craft a custom bouquet for the bride, boutonnieres and corsages and all the table arrangement flowers as well.
If you are crafting an archway for the wedding ceremony, large paper flowers are an awesome way to decorate the space.
How to Pick Wedding Colors:
If you are planning an elegant Harry Potter wedding, there are some options when it comes to colors.
You may prefer to use the house colors as the main theme of the dinner party, decorating tables or sections of the room as the different houses.
For this formal event the focus was on white and gold, with accents of greenery and Oriental Trading has all the basics.
I love how natural, classy and elegant the tablescape looks.
Harry Potter fans will recognize the deathly hallows, the house banners and the golden snitches without them being the main focal point.
A great way to display the wedding cake is a gorgeous hairpin leg table stand like this! I love this tall table, we've used it for so many different occasions.
Check out this full tutorial on how we made the cake table.

I love the boho vibe with the natural wood, wooden beads, rattan lantern, the placemats and the burlap.
I love the eucalyptus leaves, the garlands from Oriental Trading are worth the price--they feel really high quality and don't look fake.
How to Decorate the Head Table of a Magical Wedding:
Decorating the head table is first and foremost for the wedding day luncheon or dinner.
The Hogwarts banners are a fun way to put all the house banners in one place and have them still look amazing.
The woven placemats on the head table are my favorite element.
The dinnerware is plastic and can easily be tossed when the event is over...but they feel high quality and substantial enough to hold food well...find a Goblet of Fire for the drinks!
Drape a eucalyptus garland across the table for lush greenery.
Add the Golden Snitch tea lights and some battery operated candles for ambiance.

How to Make DIY Wedding Cake:
Wedding cakes are typically very simple and can be a breeze to make yourself.
- Make 4 layers of cake, cut level and frozen.
- Then layer with buttercream frosting in between the layers.
- Then coat the cake with buttercream and place in fridge for an hour at least.
- In the meantime, cut a stencil with a Cricut Maker. (How to Make a Reusable Cake Stencil)
- Place the stencil on the cake and use a palette knife to smooth buttercream frosting over the top of it.
- Smooth out the frosting and remove the stencil.
- Continue around the whole cake.
- Add a cake topper and flowers if desired.
Did you notice??? I've got 2 different Deathly Hallows themed cake toppers!
They are switched around during this set-up photo shoot...and the bride can pick her favorite.
Which one of these wedding cake toppers is your favorite?
Also, they are easy to make with a laser cutting machine or can be cut out of cardstock with a Cricut.

Wedding Gift Table Ideas:
The triangle lanterns/terrariums are perfect for the Deathly Hallows look!
- Use wooden beads and thread them on wire to make a circle.
- Tie the circle onto the lantern with a gold ribbon.
- Then place a wand (or a cool stick) between the ribbon and the beads.
These lantern/terrariums are perfect at the guest book table or gift table for receiving envelopes, gift cards, etc.
Bonus:
After the wedding, the newlyweds have really beautiful, high quality, home decor to decorate their first place with!
How to Pick a Wedding Venue for a Harry Potter Themed Wedding:
Finding a venue is such an important part of the wedding ceremony and wedding day!
First, decide on number of guests and the budget for the event.
If you are having a large event, a reception hall can be decorated with the look of the great hall.
If you are doing a small, intimate wedding, finding the perfect room of requirement is the key.
Look for vintage looking places, they will decorate themselves without a lot of extra work, same can be said about outdoor weddings and receptions...the outdoors are already decorated.
Maybe you'll have your wedding in the forbidden forest!?
There are church buildings dotting the map that allow wedding receptions at no cost, so there are some very economical choices when deciding on a venue.
Wedding Open House vs. Formal Seating:
If you are having an open house reception, the dessert table can be highly decorated and the reception area can be full of circle guest tables with matching but minimal decorations for guests to sit, eat and leave.
If you are having a formal seating event, the tables can be sectioned into 4 rows of house tables.
Write out the guest list or table sortings on a big ornate mirror--the mirror of Erised.
Each guest can find their table and place setting with a sweet treat or other personal touch.
Hanging Table Decorations:
For easy table hanging decorations, I'm using the Helgeo from Ikea.
It clamps on each side of the table and slides to fit a wide range of table widths--perfect for all events, like a bridal shower, Prom, Summer BBQ or birthday parties! I love things that are versatile!
It's perfect for hanging the eucalyptus and wooden bead garland...or hanging floating candles or Hogwarts letters like the owl post!
More Harry Potter Wedding Ideas:
- Hang envelopes from the ceiling
- Hang floating candles from ceiling
- Make a deathly hallows wedding arch for the unbreakable vow portion of the wedding ceremony
- Create a signature cocktail
- Get a Harry Potter theme wedding dress
- Get magical themed wedding rings
- Decorate with ornate frames
- Use vintage bottles as table decor
- Have a photo booth in a big ornate frame
- Place stacks of books on tables with candles on top (tear covers off books so they are just white)
- Make golden snitch party favors with wrapped truffle chocolates and gold wings
Add elements form each of the Harry Potter series books or keep it simple with just a subtle reference to Harry Potter here and there.
Harry Potter themed Formal Events:
These Harry Potter-themed wedding ideas can be adjusted for any formal occasion.
If you are hosting a Prom or Homecoming dance, these elements are perfect for a formal event.
My favorite ways to do dances are to have the dinner at a house instead of a restaurant!
It's so much more intimate and fun--if you can find a great caterer or chef!
I've seen a trend in more dances and photos being done at home rather than restaurants and schools.
I love this trend!
