This necklace is a fun costume piece, it's not made for Queen Victoria adorned with semiprecious stones, gold carat plating and accompanying a diamond necklace.

It is a piece that can be easily worn with a costume and then stored in the Halloween costume box or in a jewelry box for dress ups.

Step 1: Find a Baroque Silicone Mold

Silicone molds are easy to find online and relatively inexpensive.

This one is the perfect romantic period shape for an easy necklace, it has a main focal point and wing-like shapes perfect for drilling holes and attaching a chain.

Nearly any mold you find can be transformed into a necklace easy enough though, so don't stress too much about the exact mold...pick a shape with larger sections, rather than really delicate lines.

Step 2: Mix Fast Cast Resin

Begin by reading the directions for the FastCast Resin, Fast Cast sets up in 15 minutes or less, so be sure to read through all the instructions first before mixing.

Follow the directions exactly when mixing it.  Work on a disposable surface and always wear gloves when working with resin.

FastCast sets surprisingly quickly, you only have about 2 minutes or less of working time, so be sure everything is set and ready to go before mixing.

Next, use a pipette or dropper to fill the mold as quickly and carefully as possible.

Then let the resin set for 15 minutes and then it's ultimately done!  Finally, pop it out of the mold and it's ready to work with.

If your FastCast resin overfills the mold, just wait until the resin sets and then use scissors to trim off the excess resin.

It's easy to clean up easily if you don't wait a long time to do the trimming...you can see mine has a few air bubbles but it will work just fine for this craft project.

Step 3: Drill Holes

Now use the drill and small bit to drill a hole on each side of the resin casting.

The best way to drill the holes is over a piece of scrap wood, so you can drill all the way through the resin cleanly.

It's important to realize that the holes need to be drilled close to the edge so the jump ring can fit through it...but not so close that the resin breaks.

Step 4: Painting

Then paint the resin the color of your choice--I used gold spray paint working over a piece of cardboard outside where it is well ventilated.

You can use gold plating or some kind of gold alloy paint to cover the original design in yellow gold paint or other precious metals, worthy of the Victorian era.

Step 5: Necklace Chain

After the paint is dry it's time to hook it to the necklace chain.

Then cut a length of chain to fit around the wearers head, about 24 inches.

Next hook the jump ring on the resin casting and to the chain in a classical style.

The backside is unpainted, but you can see the simplicity of attaching the chain.

You can add gold beads to your chain or glue faux precious gems to the front of the filigree as desired.

It's a good idea to paint the back side of the resin so it doesn't show white if the Victorian pendant moves around.

Now this Victorian period necklace is ready to wear--perfect jewelry piece for a costume or just for fun!

I loved fancy jewelry when I was a little girl...lol and even now, I feel like jewelry pieces add the extra emphasis on any great costume, cosplay or outfit.

Best part, is that there is no black tarnish or delicate cleaning solutions for this painted resin piece--just wipe with a soft cloth if it starts to look dingy.
