How to Make a Fallout Gift Basket (DIY Craft Ideas)

Canonically the bombs in the Fallout universe fell on October 23rd, so it's a day to remember...not necessarily celebrate...but let's craft today!

I'm making a fun Fallout gift basket, similar to the basket that Bridie gives to Maximus in the Amazon Prime Fallout series, season one.

If you watched the Amazon Prime Fallout Series last April, you'll remember when Lucy and Maximus end up in Vault 4 beneath Hawthorne Medical Laboratories.

Maximus was trying to convince Lucy that the vault members were a cult, "everyone's smiling"...she didn't agree.

By the end of their experiences in the vault, Maximus was keen to stay and Lucy believed it to be a cult.

Birdie, the overseer's assistant gives Maximus his own place and a generous gift basket...wondering if he'll call Vault 4 home.

It's a galvanized bucket filled with caviar, Cram, Yum Yum Deviled Eggs, Oysters, Purified water, Sugar Bombs, Blamco Mac & Cheese and more!

I'm going to show you how easy it is to make a Fallout themed gift basket, perfect for holiday gift giving, birthdays, Christmas and new years gifts, St. Patrick's day, May day baskets, a fast fathers gift or house warming presents--the perfect gift for the Fallout fan.

The perfect way to celebrate Fallout day!

This basket has an open concept theme. 

Just fill a galvanized bucket (much better than a plastic bag) with all kinds of goodies from part of the Fallout universe.

Take a regular box of Mac & Cheese and print off the label, adhere it to the box to make your own Blamco Mac & Cheese.

Take an Altoid tin and print off the Mentats label then adhere it to the tin for the perfect chem box.

Fallout Craft #1: Vault Tec Journal

Let's make a Vault Tec Journal for a high quality gift. 

This is a great stand-alone gift idea too--perfect delivery time!

Supplies Needed for Vault Tec Journal:

• Cricut Machine
• Blank Dotted Journal in Vault-Tec Blue
• Textured Gold Foil Vinyl
• Vault-Tec Logo (FREE file download at the end of the post)

Step 1: Cut the Vinyl

Upload the Vault-Tec logo into Cricut Design Space and select it as a cut image.

Then size it to fit on the front of the journal without running into the elastic band closure.

Then place the vinyl, pattern up, on the sticky mat and have the Cricut cut it out.

Mine is about 4 inches wide and that makes the text super easy to weed around. 

Pick a font that is big and bold, no thin lines for a small project like this.

Weed away the excess vinyl and use transfer tape to adhere the logo to the front of the journal.
It's as easy as that!

I love having a Cricut Maker 3, it makes last minute gift giving a breeze! 

I love customizing everything, I would have loved a Cricut when I was a little girl!

Fallout Craft #2: Wasteland Magazines!

Let's make a bunch of awesome wasteland magazines, featuring the best characters in the game!

These are filled with blank paper so they are a great option for notebooks!

Supplies Needed for Magazines:

• Canon Pixma Printer iP8720 
• Photo Paper
• Blank Copy Paper
• Paper Cutter
• Swivel Stapler and Standard Staples
• Magazine Images (FREE file download at the end of the post)

Step 1: Swivel Stapler

This swivel stapler is awesome. 

Seriously, I bought this stapler JUST for this magazine project!

Here's the best part, it can be used as a standard paper stapler. PLUS,

Then the stapler can swivel with a good turn and rotate to either side so that the paper can be slid and stapled right in the center of a folded magazine--like some mad hatter magic!

It's awesome and totally worth the price for Fallout magazine notebooks!

Step 2: Print

Print off the 4 magazine printables onto glossy photo paper...the magazine on the right side of the paper and the fallout logo on the left side.

These downloads are FREE and available in a google drive with tons of other images at the end of this post.

I use a Canon Pixma Printer iP8720 that can print up to 13x19 and love it. (More on the Printer here)

Step 3: Trim

Trim the edges of the magazine, so there is no white bordering the top, right side and bottom of the Grognak the Barbarian full color picture.

Then score along the left edge of the magazine cover and then fold the glossy photo paper in half, trim off the back paper to match the front, forming the perfect magazine notebook cover.

Step 4: Paper Filler

Take a stack of regular copy paper and cut it the same size as the magazine.

Fold it down the center, ready to sandwich in the cover and get stapled.

Scoring the pages makes a nice crisp fold, but it's optional.

Step 5: Swivel Staple

Place the paper, opened up under the magazine cover opened up, with the folded lines all lining up.

Then slide the swivel stapler around the stack of paper and line up the staples right in the center line, about 2 inches from the edge of the magazine.

Flip the magazine around and repeat for a second staple on the exact opposite side of the magazine, 2 inches from the edge.

Now fold the Astoundingly Awesome Tales in half and you have the perfect wasteland magazine notebook!

Now you have a whole collection of magazines...if only you could craft a magazine display case to show them all off in your CAMP or Settlement!

Tales of adventure and daring escapes!

Grognak the Barbarian, Jungle of the Bat Babies is a Fallout 4 classic.

Grognak is still probably my favorite magazine to stumble upon in the wasteland.

Astoundingly Awesome Tales is a futuristic thriller magazine, Attack of the Metal Man!

Tesla magazine is every super smart little boy and girl's favorite magazine...especially the Rocket Science for Toddlers magazine!

Fallout Craft #3: Mentats!

Easy Mentats made with an mint tin for easy chem usage. 

Supplies Needed for Mentats:

• Canon Pixma Printer iP8720 
• Photo Paper
• Paper Cutter
• Mint Tin
• Adhesive Tape
• Mentats Image (FREE file download at the end of the post)

Step 1: Print and Cut

Begin by printing out the Mentats label image on glossy photo paper. 

Free Mentats file at the end of this post.

Use some precise scissors to trim around the label carefully, making the little rounded corners to fit perfectly on the blank tin.

Step 2: Adhesive

Then apply adhesive tape to the backside of the paper label and then place it right on the tin.

Press down firmly on the label and it is ready to go!

Fill the Mentats tin with mints, candy or loose change!

That's it!

So many fun ideas to put this DIY Fallout Gift Basket (worthy of Vault 4) together--add a gift card or a tee shirt and it's even more exciting!

Lunchboxes on Fallout are icon and a fun item to find or buy during gameplay.

They picture a line up of people going into the vault with a Vault Boy in the bottom corner.
