How to Make Personalized Vinyl Stocking Tags DIY

Learn how to make a personalized vinyl stocking tag for a custom element for Christmas morning or holiday decorations.

It's easy to make a custom tag for everyone visiting for Christmas so everyone is included in the stocking tradition.

These darling custom acrylic and vinyl stocking tags can be used for a Christmas tree ornament and holiday decor too!

Let's get started!

Supplies Needed for Personalized Vinyl Stocking Tag:

Acrylic Ornament Blank
HTVRONT Holographic Vinyl (Soil Gold)
Cricut Machine or other Cutting Machine
Transfer Tape
Scraping Tool or Plastic Gift Card

Step 1: Holographic Vinyl

Use the included fonts and the Cricut Design Space to design the text for your own stocking tags.

Use the family's names or even make initial tags for a personal touch to the Christmas tree or stockings.

Put the shimmery holographic vinyl on the cutting mat and insert into the machine and have the cutting machine cut out the adhesive vinyl.

Step 2: Weed the Vinyl

After the vinyl is cut out using the Cricut machine, remove the mat and peel the mat off of the vinyl carefully.

Then weed the excess vinyl from the custom word or name cut from the vinyl.

Step 3: Transfer Tape

Place the vinyl cut out image on the work surface and cover with a piece of transfer tape, pressing firmly with a scraper tool.

Next, turn the vinyl over and peel the paper backing away from the cut out vinyl.

This vinyl can be applied to a variety of surfaces, primed wood stocking tags or wood slices, ball ornaments, piece of cardboard or laser cut classic wood DIY stocking name tags.

Step 4: Apply Vinyl

Make sure to remove the protective cover over the acrylic ornament stocking tag before applying the vinyl.

Now line up the vinyl on the front of the DIY stocking tags watching the edges of the tag carefully.

Press the vinyl down firmly on your own tags with the scraper tool or a hard plastic gift card.

Step 5: Finishing Touches

Now remove the plastic backing on the ornament for the clear acrylic finish.

Tie a ribbon through the small hole on the top or add an ornament hook.

Now get CREATIVE for a personal touch:

Use a hot glue gun to attach a sprig of holly or pine to the top for the perfect touch
Add some German Glass glitter around the edges
Add some macrame cord for boho style
Turn the ornament over and add some acrylic craft paint with a sponge brush for a dash of a painted area.
String some wood beads on the ribbon for more texture

Step 5: Finishing Touches Now remove the plastic backing on the ornament for the clear acrylic finish. Tie a ribbon through the small hole on the top or add an ornament hook.
