How to Make UV Resin Ornaments DIY with Lightwish Glitter

Learn how easy it is to make stunning glitter ornaments using Lightwish Glitter UV Resin.

It has a subtle color tint and tiny sparkles of glitter that make the perfect resin base for jewelry, small trinkets and ornament DIY.

I love working with UV resin because the resin craft projects are done in minutes instead of days.
Let's get started!

Lightwish has taken an extra step out of the resin crafting process by adding a color tint and fine glitter right into the resin.

The best part is that Lightwish also carries a selection of colored resins, including black and white resin. Check out this post here for colored resin necklaces.

UV resin is one of my favorite things because the resin cures so quickly, so the DIY project is fast!

I was able to make these 3 glitter DIY resin ornaments, perfect for the Christmas tree or gift tags, in less than an hour. Here's the simple tutorial:

Supplies Needed for Resin Ornaments DIY:

Step 1: Ornament Prep

Begin by removing one side covering on the acrylic ornament.

Leave the backing on while working on the UV resin ornament, we'll remove it at the end.

Step 2: Lightwish Glitter UV Resin

Now decide which color of Lightwish Glitter UV resin you are going to use, any one is a perfect choice.
I picked Aqua first.

Open up the resin and place the new (included) fine point cap on it.

Untwist the lid and squeeze a thin layer of resin over the top of the ornament, then use a silicone brush to spread the resin all over the top.

UV resin is so awesome, because it's mixed and ready to use out of the bottle.

No mixing in small cups for full minutes for the chemical reaction to take place, no heat gun needed...just squeeze it out and it's ready to use.

Step 2: Lightwish Glitter UV Resin Now decide which color of Lightwish Glitter UV resin you are going to use, any one is a perfect choice. I picked Aqua first. Open up the resin and place the new (included) fine point cap on it. Untwist the lid and squeeze a thin layer of resin over the top of the ornament, then use a silicone brush to spread the resin all over the top.

Step 3: Chunky Glitter

Now open up the chunky blue glitter and sprinkle a little bit right across the middle of the acrylic ornament.

Shake off the excess glitter on a piece of paper and return it to the glitter jar.

Step 4: UV Resin

Now add a little more UV resin on the ornament so the entire surface has a thin layer of resin.

Don't worry about air bubbles, the glitter disguises any imperfections.

Use the silicone brush to spread the resin around gently.

It won't be completely smooth and level, but gives it a water-like finish and it makes the most beautiful ornaments sparkling in the lights.

Step 5: UV Lamp

Now place the resin craft, with the glitter side of the ornament facing up, under the ultra violet lamp on a level surface to let the resin cure.

It takes about 2-3 minutes as the resin cures.

Be sure to work in a well-ventilated area or make sure you have the Resiners Purair air filter.

Repeat this process for all the holiday resin ornaments you want to make!

These handmade ornaments are the perfect Christmas decorations or stunning gift tags that you can add a name to with vinyl after the resin is done.

Find different shapes of acrylic at the local craft store and make keychains for the perfect gift too!

Lightwish brand of resin also makes clear resin mixture that can be used the same way.

Now I'm doing a white and silver glitter ornament.

I love all the colors and would love to make a collection of green color ornaments and use the yellow glitter with gold flakes in it.

This would look great as resin snowflakes, I love the white resin with holographic glitter in it the most!

This technique would work on wood ornaments too!

Add that big pile of holiday cheer right across the center, that holographic silver glitter is so dreamy.

Step 6: Finishing Touches

Now that the resin has cured under the UV lamp, peel the covering off the backside of the acrylic ornament for the shiny, glossy finish!

Simple resin projects are the best--and UV resin is the king of resin projects!

It's so much faster than mixing one part resin with one part hardener and then mixing them in a second cup.

Next step is to just tie a satin ribbon bow on the top of the DIY resin Christmas ornaments.

Now they are ready to use as holiday decorations!

You can customize them even further by cutting vinyl with a name and adhering it to the smooth side of the acrylic ornament and let the glitter resin side be a gorgeous backdrop.
