Snowflakes are especially unique, find snowflake molds with different designs.
Every year around this time of year, I bust out paper and scissors and we cut paper snowflakes.
They all turn out different and look great hanging on the front window or on the Christmas tree.
Snowflakes are the perfect choice for decorating, because they can stay up all through January too!
These pendants are perfect for little icy princess or fabulous ornaments for the tree.
Supplies Needed for Resin Snowflake Ornaments:
affiliate links supply list- FastCast Urethane Casting Resin
- Snowflake Silicone Molds
- Stirring Sticks, Mixing Cups, Disposable Gloves and Worksurface
- Yarn, twine or an ornament hanger
Step 1: FastCast Resin
FastCast resin cures so quickly that I didn't have time to photograph the mixing steps.
Read the package directions thoroughly and follow them completely, work in a well-ventilated area.
Mix 1 part resin and 1 part hardener in a large mixing cup and stir with a stir stick for 30 seconds, I used 1/2 ounce of each bottle.
Then pour into a second plastic cup and use a second stick to stir again for 30 seconds, stir gently so you don't whip air bubbles into the white resin.
If you want to add color, now is the time to add a dop of alcohol ink, some mica powder, some fine glitter or even some gold flakes.
Then quickly and carefully pour the resin into the molds on a level surface.
Step 2: Curing Time
The resin very quickly turns white and opaque, no need for a heat gun.
Let them sit for about 10 minutes, then pull them out of the molds.
Silicone molds are the best because they can flex around the firm resin piece.
Step 3: Glitter
The resin craft dries a glossy white and looks fabulous on its own.
Next step, I added a thin layer of spray glitter, it's actually hair glitter leftover from Halloween.
Just put the snowflakes in a shallow cardboard box and spritz them outside with the glitter spray or color them with spray paint.
Step 4: Yarn
After the glitter dries, about 5 minutes, then add some blue yarn to the resin snowflakes.
Decide the length of the yarn according to the purpose, snowflake pendant necklaces for little girls about 26 inches and Christmas tree snowflake ornaments about 8 inches.
Simply tie a larks head knot through the pendant loop, then tie off the two ends...or add some holly berries and a sprig of pine and an ornament hanging hook for the perfect holiday resin ornaments.
If using the different shapes of snowflake pendants for Christmas tree ornaments, you can substitute the yarn for ornament hooks. Easy!
That's it!
