HOW TO USE THE NEW LOKLiK iCRAFT CUTTING MACHINE

Learn how to use the newest LOKLiK iCraft electronic cutting machine.

It's easy to set up and really just plug and play but we'll go through the features and what to expect when you are using it, plus a couple projects.

If you are looking for a great electronic crafting machine, look no further.

LOKLiK sent me the iCraft to review in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.

WHAT IS THE LOKLiK iCRAFT?

LOKLiK iCraft is a fantastic addition to any crafting arsenal for handicraft enthusiasts.

It's in the family of intelligent machines that can cut, draw and foil various materials.

It's perfect for cutting paper: think paper crafts like scrapbooking and cardmaking...all the way to unique cake toppers, festive decor, 3D layered shadow boxes and 3D shapes and large-scale projects.

The LOKLiK iCraft can draw: think handwritten cards or invitations, DIY coloring book pages and more!

The LOKLiK iCraft can cut a vast material range, including printable paper, iron-on designs, freezer paper, posterboard and more!

The LOKLiK iCraft can also do print and cut feature (separate color printer needed) for the perfect stickers. Use images from the free art library or upload your own!

WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH A LOKLiK CUTTING MACHINE?

The LOKLiK iCraft can cut over 100 materials, although LOKLiK doesn't have a comprehensive list on their website.

Based on what other craft machines can cut with a fine point or deep point blade, I've compiled my own list, not all tested out by me yet.

Setting up the LOKLiK crafter is simple, it really is made for plug and play.

There's a wireless bluetooth option, but I went old school and plugged in the power supply as well as the USB to my laptop.

Step 1 Setting up the LOKLiK iCraft:

Begin by opening up the premium blades and holder box.

Remove the plastic covering from the tip of the blade and carefully insert it into the holder, while pressing the end button down.

Release the button to hold the blade in place.

The blade and holder can now be inserted into the LOKLiK iCraft.

The pen has a brush pen tip, that is soft and flexible.

The other end of the dual pen, is a fine tip, perfect for those precision details.

The weeding hook tool has a rubber cap over the tip which is super nice, until you lose it.

The perfect tool for weeding vinyl and getting in those little precision cuts.

LOKLiK STORAGE:

The LOKLiK iCraft has a tool storage container that clicks into the side of the machine on the left.

Just fit the container into the slot and press down to click it into place firmly.

It's great for holding all the blades, holders and tools.

BLADE OPTIONS FOR LOKLiK iCRAFT:

The LOKLiK iCRAFT Cutting Machine supports additional tools beyond the fine-point blade.

Here’s a more complete breakdown of the blades and tools available for it:

THE CONTINUOUS CUTTING TOOL:

The roll holder (or continuous cutting tool) slides onto the icraft easily, matching it's sliding cutting blade with the groove in the front door of the icraft.

This makes it so you can cut long rolls and patterns and then cut them off easily and perfectly with the blade.

I have not tried cutting long lengths of vinyl yet.

DEEP POINT BLADE:

The deep point blade is a 90* angle blade for deep cuts.

This is perfect for thicker materials like stencil plastic or leatherette.

The deep point blade inserts into the holder the same way as the fine point blade.

Just remove the plastic covering from the blade, and carefully insert it into then end of the housing while pressing the button on the end in.

Release the button to hold the blade in place.

THE OPEN HOLDER:

This open holder housing is made for inserting the pen tip or a stylus.

It fits into the LOKLiK icraft the same as the blade housing, for scoring and drawing or writing.

It's easy to change out the blade, pen or stylus as you work, just don't eject the mat and the project will work out great.

The LOKLiK iCRAFT software, called LOKLiK IdeaStudiotm, is a free design platform that comes with the LOKLiK iCRAFT cutting machine.

It is designed to be beginner-friendly while still offering powerful features for more advanced users and boasts an extensive collection of premade images.

Step 2 Setting up the LOKLiK iCraft Software:

Install the Ideastudio software and connect machine.

It was so easy to install and connect via USB and everything automatically worked.

The software walks you through your first project with loklik care.

It instructs you to place the included HTV sample face down on the mat and insert it into the machine.

Then press start and it cuts out the LOKLiK logo with effortless precision, nearly silently in no time at all.

Step 2 Setting up the LOKLiK iCraft Software: Install the Ideastudio software and connect machine.

Step 3: Weed

Then use the hook tool to weed the excess vinyl from the cut out design.

Step 4: Heat Press

Then use the HTVRONT (LOKLiK's sister company) Mini Heat Press to press the design onto a tea towel...or just move on to your next project!

LOKLIK will run you through a basic first project after installing and connecting your machine.

PROJECT 2: DRAW AND CUT

Add a shape to the IdeaStudio canvas.

Add text to the canvas, pick a "hand written font", so that the pen can just draw it out.

Select the text and click the "draw" button.

Then insert the material on the mat and press start.

I am using kraft sticker paper.

The pen will write out the handwritten font easily!

Then switch out the pen/holder and replace the fine point cutting blade housing in the clamp.

Select the shape in the software and then click start and it will cut out the shape.

It's easy to make custom stickers for packages and more!

There's a print and cut feature if you have a printer too--you can print out high quality images and the LOKLiK iCraft will add registration marks so you can place it on the mat and it will cut it out beautifully.

The LOKLiK iCRAFT Cutting Machine is designed to be very beginner-friendly, making it an excellent choice for those new to crafting or cutting machines.

Overall, this machine is top notch!

I am very familiar with Cricut machines and this matches the Explore Air 3 and quite possibly out does it.

If you are looking for a good quality machine, this is a great choice.

I really have no complaints, for everything I do, the machine is 99% adequate and awesome.

I will say this as a possible con:

LOKLiK IdeaStudio is $30 a month and I haven't explored it at all, there is an AI feature, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. (I'm fine with the free version)
