How to Make Wood Bouquet Flowers xTool Spring DIY
Finish off National Craft Month with xTool making the perfect wood bouquet of flowers for Spring.
I love how these delicate and detailed flowers turned out and especially love that I'm not allergic to them.
Decorate your home, DIY a wedding or make a handmade gift easily and quick with xTool S1.
WOODEN FLOWER:
I love beautiful flowers, but have big allergies to real flowers.
I love making faux flowers, paper flowers and a wooden flower bouquet to have the benefit of the beauty and the no allergies.
These wood flower florists arrangements are perfect for Spring home decor, a special day, a handmade gift--maybe paired with a gift card, wedding day flowers or even a wedding bouquet.
I left my wooden flower bouquets natural basswood color, but you can paint your wood flowers any color, perfect to match any color scheme, like deep reds, mauves and blush!
Using real flowers for a wedding is so last years style, make an original design with wood flowers for the perfect special day!
I used my xTool S1 and it did an amazing job cutting out these detailed flowers.
Production time is super quick, it took me less than an hour to make all these flowers and leaves and get them all glued together.
Make a bouquet for Spring home decor, wedding flower centerpieces or bouquets or just a special delivery request for a friend.
Let's get started!
SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR WOOD BOUQUET FLOWERS:
- xTool S1 20W Diode Laser
- 3mm Basswood
- Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue
- Vase (Bud vases are the best)
- Paint, Acrylic Paint Markers, Pastels (optional)
- Flower Files from Creative Fabrica
- Magnolia Flower Branch
- Leaves SVG Bundle
- Anemone SVG Laser Cut Flowers
- Rose SVG Laser Cut Flower Bundle
Step 1: Cutting Basswood Flowers
Begin by loading the files into XCS (xTool Creative Space) and size them to fit the basswood.
Then set the settings to the 3mm Basswood settings.
Next, click the start button and let the xTool S1 cut out the wood flowers.
I absolutely love using tried and true files from Creative Fabrica, it's so simple to just download them, upload to the software, size and cut.
I had the xTool cut these patterns out 2 times, to really make sure that they were cut through.
Step 2: Color the Flowers
If you are excited about adding color to your flowers, now is the perfect time to color them.
Spray paint works great and quick, so that's the number one recommendation.
You can paint them with a paintbrush.
Stain the wood flowers with a gel stain if you want to add a deeper tone to the wood.
You could paint them with acrylic paint pens or craft paints.
I'm leaving them natural, because that's my favorite.
Step 3: Gluing Layers
Now it's time to glue the layers of the flowers together.
I love the multiple layers of these wooden flowers, but the top layer is super intricate and thin.
Use care as you hold it.
Then use the precision craft glue, this is my favorite glue--it's got a tiny precision tip for the ease of application.
Press the layer in place and place something firmly on it for about 5 minutes.
The glue will dry in 5 minutes but need 24 hours to cure, so it's best to plan ahead a bit for this...even though it will definitely work for a last minute project too.
I love these layered flower designs.
They are easy to put together and fit flawlessly.
They give a little more strength to the wood flower, however these are fragile.
If you want to make them a little more durable, cut out 2 of each stem shape and glue them together too.
Step 4: Display
Now the wooden flowers are finished and ready to display.
If you are making an arrangement in a vase, a bud vase with some filler is ideal.
If you are making a wedding bouquet, I would use a more 3D flower and glue it to a bouquet form.
If you use these layered flowers for a wedding bouquet, double or triple them so they are a little more sturdy and tie them off with a satin ribbon.
These could also work for displays and event centerpieces.
Send a beautiful bouquet of flowers to a loved one for birthday, holidays or just because.
These are a lovely gesture!
I sized down these anemone's quite a bit, so they are very small and delicate...but they fit this tiny bud vase so cutely.
I just love the miniature aspect of them.

BEST TIPS FOR LASER CUT WOOD PROJECTS:
Material Selection:
Choose the right type of wood for your project.
Different woods have varying densities and react differently to laser cutting.
Consider factors like hardness, thickness, and grain direction when selecting wood for optimal results.
PRO TIP: Cut everything out of cardboard first before cutting into wood.
Focus on Ventilation:
Ensure proper ventilation in the workspace.
Wood cutting releases fumes, and adequate ventilation helps in dispersing them.
A well-ventilated area, or even a dedicated exhaust system, contributes to a safer and healthier working environment.
Don't cut hazardous materials like PVC Vinyl--they will release toxic fumes while cutting.
PRO TIP: Use the xTool Air Assist to minimize scorching on the edges of laser cut wood. (separate purchase but well worth it)
Calibrate Laser Settings:
Accurate calibration of the laser cutter settings is crucial.
Adjust power, speed, and frequency settings based on the type and thickness of the wood.
Experiment with scrap pieces to find the optimal configuration before cutting the final project.
Secure Material:
Secure the wood material firmly to the laser cutter bed.
This prevents any movement during the cutting process, ensuring precision and preventing potential mishaps.
Utilize magnetic clamps or other securing methods to keep the wood in place.
That's it!
