Isn't this terrific!?
I started with a 2 pieces of green felt the size of a sheet of paper.
I cut out a tree pattern and pinned it to the felt.
Then I straight stitched around the tree.
I didn't sew the paper...just used it as a guide.
Like so, leaving an opening in the bottom for the trunk.
Cut it with about a 1/4" border.
Hot glued a brown felt piece...
And slipped it inside and glued it shut.
Then I handed the tree over to my (then 8 year old) daughter...
and she did all the magic!
She cut out 25 different shapes!
One for every day of December leading up to Christmas!
She is so clever and fun!
We used some velcro and hung it up on the wall for decor.
You could add a felt envelope on the back of the tree for ornament storage!
