Just a few ingredients make a bunch of medicated lip balm...
You'll need:
(please note, I doubled this recipe and made 25 sticks and 25 pots of lip balm and more to spare...)
3 oz. Coconut oil
4 oz. Cocoa Butter
2 oz. Beeswax (yellow or white)
3 drops glycerin or vitamin E oil
20 drops of each Essential oil
Put the ingredients (except the essential oils)
into a glass pitcher.
Put the pitcher in a pot of water and bring to a low boil.
Until the contents melt completely.
While it's melting, get your chapstick tubes or pots ready to be filled.
I transferred half of my mixture into a smaller
measuring cup and added my oils.
The first batch I used:
Peppermint and Frankincense
Pour into pots and sticks and let cool. Happens really quick!
I put the extra in a muffin mold...I can melt it
down later when I am ready to make more.
My next batch I used
Peppermint, Slim and Sassy and some off brand wintergreen oil.
I loaded my mixture with oils. 20+ drops each, and at least a tablespoon of wintergreen.
Honestly, I like my chapstick to burn or tingle my lips a little.
(this wasn't quite extreme enough for me...but it is nice)
We made a bit of a mess, but it's great!
The chapstick is very soft and nice.
It doesn't have the stench that some chappy (we call it chappy) has...
you know what I mean? I do not like the smell of most chapstick.
I ended up with quite a bit of this good stuff!
Come back tomorrow to see what I plan on doing with it all!
