Colorful Garden Snails!
The good kind!

Back in February, we had some Escargot!
The kids actually loved it!  It helped that my mom said it tastes kind of like mushrooms.
And plus, anything tastes good in garlic and butter!
It was a fun experience...and we were left with 12 snail shells.
We used white oven bake clay, foil and shells.
Using a piece of foil,
I formed the basic snail shape.
You don't want to use solid clay...
After you form a base, cover it with a thin layer, about 1/4"
of white oven bake clay...and add some eye stocks too.
Get some clay smooshed in around the opening of a shell...
Then add it to the back of the slug body.

We made 3 of them.  Bake in the oven according to package directions.
about 15 minutes at 275*

After cooling, I let my 10 year old daughter at them with paint!
She used 3 colors and painted the bodies...then the shells.

You could get really creative with patterns and colors!

And they look darling in the garden rocks!
They would be cute for a "Snips and Snails and Puppy Dog Tails" baby shower!
